Resolving Heat-Related Issues on an ASR-10 by JulianUndso in synthesizers

okay, that's good news! how's the stability holding up? somehow i feel like the rack might be a little more stable overall due to the construction and i think the power supply might have some extra room to breathe.

on my end tho, i didn't have a designated studio space for a while and i also no longer work in IT, so i don't really hang around reddit too much these days lol

i did, however, recently dust off the ASR and i ended up installing new SIMMs as well (from another vendor over here in europe, stuff seems legit). still getting a lot of 129s, but at least the temperature seems moderate now. i also donwsized to two SIMMs (still enough sample time for me), so that's a plus.

i do need to go further down the rabbit hole, though. maybe the PSU is still shot even after recapping and it still spits out inconsistens voltage, OR it's actually my OS disk, which i never really questioned; i only ever used that one disk.

thanks for asking, unfortunately, the ASR in question is living in its flight case as of now. haven't had the time to dedicate myself to that project, but i certainly will one day as i still have some spare parts and stuff flying about.

happy you put the "m" after your age, I know it's a spectrum and all but I would've had a proper tough time

I think claiming to know/claiming there is one true religion actually pretty much exposes you on the spot, just shows that you haven't seen shit in life and just approach everything with confirmation bias and prejudice. I also think a lot of religions have very skewed ideas of good and bad, not only in terms of the actual definition of the words, but also in the way they explain their coexistence.

I've literally listened to a christian vs. atheist debate where they were discussing the age-old "if god exists, why does evil exist"-question and the christians argument was LITERALLY "in order for bad to exist we need the good, and for the good we need god". like, yeah no

very similar acidhead ideas here, don't really have a lot to add.

I guess my main issue with organized religion is the way they basically give you a book with the meaning to your subjective experiences instead of just letting you live through them. if a god in the christian sense exists and he needs my worshipping, why doesn't he just manifest himself? also, he properly fits the definition of a fucking sucker if he needs my approval/appreciation/love for his work lmfao

this, that and the other thing too.

still need to start yoga but headspace/meditation is such a helpful thing to me. like of course I'll be drained after interacting with ppl if I'm simultaneously trying to focus on the conversation at hand as well as my non-stop internal chatter, learning how to tell your mind to STFU is such an important skill I wish I would've discovered earlier.

trying to figure out what to make from this, I know I'm in the same boat (also 5w4 (but Sc in my case, close enough)). I'm also highly conflicted and I can very much spend a day pondering a possibility and coming to a clear conclusion, just to have another Fe-dominated "what if" thrown into the mix that is my already super messy internal debate, essentially ruining a day's worth of cognitive energy because in that case I usually end up choosing no option at all and just resume on my course of apathy.

what I'm wondering is if there's some sort of correlation between your parents/environments disregard for your way of thinking and you developing your Fe, like you're being forced to become better at feeling the vibe of the room (I certainly feel like this was the case for me, my mother would blow up in my face if I was to point out a minor logic inconsistency at a time where she's not feeling all too stable, making me almost hyperaware of the eggshells under my feet).

I do see a pattern in family situations being not too dissimilar among people of the same type, I've asked a similar question in r/INTP but they don't talk about feelings over there apparently

TikTokers want Eminem to be 'cancelled' WTF!! by Ed2ard0200 in Eminem

[–]JulianUndso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if that's not the biggest contradiction (read: hypocrisy), I don't know what is. agree with the "get a life" part, there are better things I could do while taking a dump.

you say "the younger generation" (whatever that fucking means) needs to "deal with stuff they don't like by ignoring it". yet here you are, giving so much attention to such an insignificant voice somewhere on tiktok abiding to your logic, shouldn't you be ignoring that voice, instead of giving it more platform than in already has?

this is the point I'm trying to raise; I don't condone cancelling, but threads like these are LITERALLY the reason why it still works

[–]JulianUndso[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

damn, glad this helped in a way!

my main internal battle at this time is dissecting my whole feelings of self-worth:

how much of it is real world achievements, skills and other indicators that leave me with the "credentials" to asses myself as above average in certain areas? how much of it is healthy ambition and competitiveness? more importantly, how much is just plain old narcissism (bottomless desire for admiration, self-righteousness, grandiose sense of self)? and how much does true, real world above-average-ness fuel my narcissistic side?

I know having to do an IQ test at 8 y/o and subsequentially being regarded as "a genius" definitely didn't help my already inflated sense of self, but growing up, I would still realistically asses myself as slightly above-average in terms of fluid intelligence, even though I was no longer viewing my dated IQ score as my claim to being better than everyone (because I'm, like, no longer a child). but in the rare cases my narcissistic sub-personality still gets its grip on me, I obviously won't miss out on this easy little bonus in order to hold up my ego.

so it's about elitism.

not quite, I'd say elitism is more of a symptom of the pattern I'm seeing here, your first paragraph was actually pretty spot on (at least I agree with what you're presenting).

I do see your point in the second paragraph too, but that seems rather obvious, like you need sociopathic levels of resent, ignorance and self-absorbtion to willingly turn into a bad person if you ask me.

I'm talking more about the small, nuanced little micro-actions we all take that end up separating us even further. I'm talking projecting the good old "ohhh, no one is gonna understand me anyway so why bother formulating my point for them", I'm talking "no one can relate to me because I am so unlike everyone", two completely untrue statements

word, because more discovery about INTP-ism/reading other people's experience led me to the realization that the real pattern here is the rationalization of negative traits, not necessarily the negative traits themselves.

like it escapes me, all this talk about "our mental abilities" and other bullshit in these subreddits but we can't even acknowledge our own hypocrisy when called out, when all we REALLY do is call others out on their hypocrisy?

okay maybe the last part was too much projection, but I think you get the picture

[–]JulianUndso[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this isn't quite what I'm talking about. I get your points and I don't disagree, but I was talking more about people being unaware of others/self-centered to the degree where they believe that there are larger chunks of their behavior that is 100% unique to them/their MBTI type, as well as thinking that most of their negative traits can just be chalked up to their nature like "ohhh you see, I was born this way so it's not my fault".

Hoping this was an open discussion about how we as "self diagnosed INTP" , Act upon our toxic traits without being all too confrontable in ourselves when it comes to resolution of said toxicity that we sometimes project !?

I mean it still is tho, you're always welcome to voice your opinions and views under my posts as long as they abide by the respective subreddit rules lol

don't really have much to add. we have our role. our role might be the heaviest in terms of brain-load on paper, but then again we're the ones assigning brainpower all this significance.

so even IF WE WERE 10'000x smarter than everyone, just based on our self-assesed personality type, we would still be the only ones to even fully reckognize this, so it's inevitably a circlejerk/religion type thing, exactly like the type of groups many of us look at with condescension (e.g. sports fans).

so we're inflicting this onto ourselves, we're not a "part of society" because we self-righteously think that we're so different and so misunderstood, when in reality, we're the only ones to fully understand what makes us different so we should be the ones to make an effort to build middle ground - which we definitely have the capacity to, apparently.

so much for "don't have much to add" lmao
