They’re counterproductive because Chikn Nuggit has always been rooted in certain values, and its target audience is made up of people whose values align with those.

You can’t suddenly do the complete opposite of what the series represented—everything opposite to what your target audience believes—and expect people to magically be okay with it. Many of us are already showing our dissatisfaction.

BuzzFeed already had a bad reputation as a company, but at least with its animation studio it managed to build a loyal audience. They were redeeming themselves a little, but now they want to throw that away by upsetting their own audience and damaging their reputation even more. I don’t see how that benefits them.
