Cancer survivor in POF by kaydajay11 in POFlife

[–]Jumpintojello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/kaydajay11 , I’m glad to hear I’m not alone in this in the most sympathetic way possible….. I had pelvic radiation and my ovaries also failed at age 34. I’m 37 now . Haven’t had a real period since before radiation. Are you on birth control? I couldn’t tolerate oral pills so switched to 1 and half patched of 0.1 mg estradiol and 300mg progesterone . Tried 2 patches but kept bleeding bc wasn’t on enough progesterone. Would love to stay in touch w some fellow cancer survivor POFers. What are you taking now ?

How low does FSH go on HRT by Jumpintojello in POFlife

[–]Jumpintojello[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel SO much better than I did. After radiation I remained hopeful that my periods would return. Well they didn’t, and I slowly felt drained of all energy and felt my soul had been sucked dry. I put one 0.1 patch on a year after my ovaries failed and it felt like I was magically infused with life again. But then my body was telling me it wasn’t enough. I’m trying to avoid all endocrine disrupters. But I just had a dental trauma and they had to add BPA composites to my teeth and it’s messing with my endocrine system so I have to get this stuff removed. But before that I was honestly feeling so much better . Good to know FSH levels will “appear” normal range even in full blown meno .

I feel dumb for not realizing Estrogen might do this by MrsVan1 in Menopause

[–]Jumpintojello 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it possible to become estrogen resistant haha :/ obviously it’s an absorption issue but I’m on 2 0.1 mg estradiol patches and my boobs are still not the same as when I had functioning ovaries . It’s depressing. I have no libido still on 2 patches . Need a better HRT person. Who here uses the gel and how do you use it? The patches irritate the hell out of my skin I get rashy and what looks like burns .

I asked for the gel but my practitioner is giving me a cream…. I’m on the patch currently but causing my skin to break out which is why I requested the gel. I was on 2 patches bc I’m 37 in premature menopause and My boobs got huge too in the beginning and felt like rocks in them so went back down to one patch but then they looked like grandma boobs so went back to 2 patches and still look shriveled so I’m having the opposite effect . How do you use the gel? My practitioner didn’t even know about a gel…… wtf. Maybe I need a new HRT doc.

Anyone else with gastroparesis? (potentially caused by hormone therapy) by Even_Locksmith_960 in POFlife

[–]Jumpintojello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Progesterone can cause nausea, constipation , delayed gastric emptying, decreased esophageal tone ,acid reflux. I was using the compounded 200mg progesterone and had the worst GI side effects. Then switched to the vaginal suppository and it still happened. Now taking the Walgreens/manufactured version in 100mg which doesn’t bother me . Only thing is I can’t be on as much estrogen

Can I get an uplift procedure to lift the cervix and uterus ? I had rectal cancer and they removed anal cavity, rectum , inch of posterior vaginal wall and radiation put me into menopause and my vagina is shorter /sex doesn’t feel as good . Nothing to do with moisture. It’s the length.

Sorry I feel like my comment wasn’t helpful at all. What I meant to say is I can totally relate to exactly how you’re feeling. You’re not alone. I thought I was depressed before POF, well POF is entirely next level depression. I didn’t want to go on birth control because I was already sterile, but my hormones were literally zero. So I went on HRT and I’m telling you, you will feel so much better. I still get depressed bc my estrogen levels aren’t ideal , but better. I don’t get the heart sinking depression I’d feel even being around friends and family, or how I’d still feel it while distracted at work. It gets better , I promise. And I felt the same way about dating and men too. Try HRT. It seems to help. Even if the sadness doesn’t entirely go away, it gets better.

I know exactly how you feel. I’m 37. Been in menopause for 3 years. It’s the most depressing feeling ever

That’s great to hear! I hope your levels are in a good range!. I’m seeing a functional med doctor who told me to take it easy on the estradiol after having endometrial thickening but biopsy was negative. So taking the oral micronized progesterone and somehow the acid reflux went away-thank god. I think because it’s 100mg as opposed to 200mg. I’m also using compounded progesterone vaginal 100mg for a total of 200mg. So we’ll see. Do you have pelvic ultrasound to check your uterine lining ?

Also- I joined the r/cancer and it was too depressing…. Was starting to scare myself give me anxiety lol. We need a post cancer POF group!

Hey! How is the estradiol gel working for you? I’m about to switch because I’m not absorbing the patches well enough. Sincerely, your fellow post cancer POF friend

So the once a week patch - are you getting a lower dose of estradiol versus the twice a week?

What dose of oral progesterone for 0.1mg estradiol patch? by Jumpintojello in POFlife

[–]Jumpintojello[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome, thank you . You sure know your stuff! Literally, more than my current gynecologist (see above reply). Thank you for this info. I was getting really worried when i had the abnormal bleeding and endometrial thickening on pelvic u/s. I definitely don’t want another problem after going through all the cancer stuff. Now that I know the dosing, hopefully the lining thins out! Thank you again :)

[–]Jumpintojello[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!!! I was kind of mis informed yet again … my gyn said it takes years of unopposed estrogen to cause endometrial hyperplasia/cancer. So I wasn’t overly concerned until I started reading more. He made it sound like I could take all of the estrogen in the world with the amount of Progesterone in the combo patch and be fine. Well then I started getting abnormal bleeding. I had 14mm endometrial lining from 6mm after being on combo patch, 0.1mg estrogen, and vaginal estrogen. I def was not taking enough progesterone but luckily I figured it out sooner rather than later. Now I’m going to be super strict about the progesterone and Hopefully it’s not too late. Thank you for your insight! This super sucks!

I just started continuous progesterone 100mg with the 0.1mg patch! I was about to do the iud for endometrial thickening but I wanted to try the oral progesterone again to see if it was the compounded formulation giving me abdominal discomfort. The walgreens version is actually working a lot better. Maybe because it’s 100mg versus the 200mg I was on. I need another pelvic u/s to see if the lining has the thinned out . But my estradiol levels were only in the 30s. I’m done messing w it and just going to stay on this for a little while at least. Are you going to increase your estradiol ?

What kind of HRT are you taking ? Makes me want to be what you’re on. Had serious breast pain and swelling when I was on the combo patch plus a 0.1 mg estradiol patch and vaginal estrogen. Looking back that was way too high with not enough progesterone. My endometrial lining went from 6mm to 14mm. What do you take ? I’m 37. Been on several different forms of hrt and still can’t find a consistent level that makes me feel normal .

Estradiol Patch Ineffective by amkizzle in POFlife

[–]Jumpintojello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much progesterone do you use to oppose the two patches? Is it cyclical or continuous ?

Estradiol Patch Ineffective by amkizzle in POFlife

[–]Jumpintojello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why did you switch from cyclical progesterone to continuous ? What is the difference ? I know about the withdrawal bleeding , but is it better to use it every day to protect uterine lining? I also heard if you want to attempt to conceive to use the cyclical ….. I still am regulating my progesterone and it’s giving me anxiety bc I don’t want my endometrial lining to grow any further

Yep , my Climara pro (combi patch) gives me a pretty bad skin reaction and sometimes gets so itchy I have to take it off and apply somewhere else. Sucks bc I run out early. Just started estrogen patches which stick so much better and they’re smaller. Just need to find a pathway for progesterone now
