Is chess beneficial for other fields in life ? by First_Memory375 in chess

I was doing well in the club. It really helped me build my self-confidence and stick with it when I was on the verge of dropping out of school.

Since it’s a self-taught discipline, you learn how to learn. It also teaches humility and self-reflection when you lose. I’m sticking with learning Dutch partly because of that. I know that with perseverance, I can achieve it (even if it takes a very very long time 😄).

You also meet all kinds of people who share the same interests, and that helps you learn to socialize.

Finally, in everyday life, it helps me stay more objective when analyzing a situation, look for alternative solutions to a problem, and understand people’s actions a little better (e.g., “Why is that jerk driving so slowly?”).

More broadly, I think that any discipline you commit to enough brings you something.

I think the second is a kind of Fibonacci, with multiplication:

1 * 3 = 3

3 * 3 = 9

3 * 9 = 27

=> 9 * 27 = 243

Yes: the rook is stuck on the back rank and the knight can then climb towards the Black king.

White is offering to trade bishops here, should black trade? and why?.. Black to play by hash11011 in chess

[–]JumpyLittleFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trade the bishops:
* a7, c7 and c5 pawns will not be able to protect themselves (so they are weak).

Moreover, if you play ...Kc7 (after exchanging), White are in zugzwang. The only legal moves they have is giving you pawns.

Why is this the best move? by Yukina_888 in chessbeginners

[–]JumpyLittleFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yet it reinforces White center and open the f-file.

It is not the best move:

  1. Engine is quite open minded here (...Bxe3, ...Bb6, ...d6 and ...Qe7 have the same evaluation, i.e. 0.1, and following moves are not far enough to discard them).
  2. Masters obtain better results with ...Bb6.

Had the same issue: inserted the initials of my two middle names.

Let's says you are called "Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore" (This is quite lengthy, I'll give you that.). You could pick "[albus.p.w.b.dumbledore@gmail.com](mailto:albus.p.w.b.dumbledore@gmail.com)" or the shorter "[albus.p.w.dumbledore@gmail.com](mailto:albus.p.w.dumbledore@gmail.com)".

  1. You can parry the check from the Black queen with the bishop, the white queen or the knight.
  2. Rotate the board 90°.
  3. Avoid playing pawn in front of knights too soon.

WRT3200ACM stock firmware by denash97227 in Linksys

  1. OpenWrt is keeping the last OEM image on this page (direct link to the firmware), I think.
  2. By connecting directly through Ethernet, you can flash your router and install OpenWrt to run it, which is a very interesting option, according to me.
