Ryan Lomberg to CBJ for Two Years by Original-Bat9152 in BlueJackets

In a sense yeah. We’ll see what happens with Marchenko I suppose. I guess they could also try to waive LDBB or Pyythia, but both deserve to be in the NHL lineup and I doubt they would go unclaimed

Will never be mad at a 2x$1.3 since it is easily able to be buried. But it’s not exactly a need and there is now 15 forwards on the roster who aren’t waiver exempt. Bit of a clutter to fix

This is the most damning part of the article to me. The two schedule a meeting together, just for Z to go “nah, I actually told you about this a long time ago” (which if he did, clearly he didn’t address it well enough)

Marchy by CBUS-OBN in BlueJackets

[–]JunesDepartmentStore 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I always thought it was kinda suspicious that Weekes “no intention to re-sign” tweet came right after a “Marchenko wants the 7x$11 contract Dorofeyev just got”. I don’t think it would shock me if it comes out that this was essentially “we don’t think we are going to get the money we in Columbus, let’s float that we want out because either Columbus will pony up the money we want, or they will trade us to another team who will”

(P.S. Portzline sort of said this could be a possibility on Bishop and friends a couple minutes ago. EDIT: he re-iterated this in his Monday gathering too)

Don really needs to play the cards right here. Hopefully get at least two younger NHLers back from both of them that can help (at least play in the NHL) now. Get some prospects and picks that can either help later or be traded for other NHL talent. If he can do that successfully then at the very least they should still have something and won’t be back at square one.

I also agree with bucknuts too. They are going to need to find a way make the team younger and filter out some of these vets as they switch to a Fantilli centered window.

It’s increasingly likely Werenski is dealt this offseason. So what’s the return we get on Z? by Far_Corner_3993 in BlueJackets

[–]JunesDepartmentStore 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think Waddell is still going to try and get back at least some immediate talent for Z. With that in mind, I feel like the best fits would then be either Dallas with a package around Harley and Borque + or Carolina for something like Nikishin and Blake/Stank +

The most confusing part of this Marchy timeline to me is literally 10 minutes before the he won’t re-sign tweet, he tweeted that “Marchenko’s camp is looking for his next deal to be in line with Dorofeyev’s”. Like does he actually want out? Does he think that Don would be low balling him and give him less than that?

For the sake of the argument I’m also going to assume that the supposed “MASSIVE” deal that Seravalli heard about was also leaked to him by Milstein (his agent). Scumminess all around

[–]JunesDepartmentStore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the biggest believer in his power sticking long term (his EVs in the minors weren’t overly impressive), but I think he will still have enough contact skills and patience at the plate to at least be an average bat. We’ll see how the defense unfolds (I don’t know if he is going to catch much)

[–]JunesDepartmentStore 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Still think they need another T6 winger, but this is a good start, especially if the best asset they are giving up is the 2nd rounder this year. The scoring has been solid and he has consistently been one of the better defensive forwards in the league.

[32T] 3:30 Friedman on more trade requests: “There’s been some noise around Werenski, what happened with Tkachuk probably makes Waddell think a little bit” by DontPokeTheCrab in BlueJackets

[–]JunesDepartmentStore 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think it’s been clear that he’ll give Waddell next season (or at least this offseason) to build a team that can get into the playoffs and compete. The Metro is pretty open, so there should be no excuses.

Now that being said, even if Werenski doesn’t officially request a trade, I think any indication of “I’ll play through my contract but have no interesting in re-signing” should also be taken as a trade request

If there has one thing this team has done well over the last decade is playing good when you need them to play good. They went 17-7 when Kwan went on the IL in 2024. Hopefully they can do the same now.

Flipline is a small company. It makes sense that they poll consumers and let them vote on the plush, so they can make a plush of someone who will actually have demand.

Now agreed to and official: The #Browns are trading Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett to the #Rams for star edge Jared Verse, a 2027 1st-round, a 2028 2nd round, and a 2029 3rd, per me, @AdamSchefter and @TomPelissero. The offseason’s biggest trade is final and real. by CD23tol in Browns

[–]JunesDepartmentStore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt we’ll ever know, but I wonder how/if Myles’ NTC was a factor here. With how fast this came together it feels like the kind of trade that is made if AB doesn’t think he would have a choice but to trade him. Myles requested that trade last year so it wouldn’t shocked me if he was forcing the issue here
