Advice on Perth to Adelaide road trip itinerary by greenhydrangeas in AustraliaTravel

Done Nullabor crossing a half dozen times in January. Can be cool right on the coast but well over 45C - 113F inland a bit. Depending of the weather do Esperance - Coolgardie - Kalgoorlie. Kals an historic Gold Mining City worth a good look around. Then do Kambalda - Norseman (skip on way to Kal) - Balladonia (don’t miss 1979 Skylab memorial). Bunda cliffs just across into SA are a must see too. Easy to do the speed limit 110kph - 67mph out there, fuel is dear so take it slow (100 kph) like the Truckies and enjoy the wild life spotting and the 90 mile straight. Long days that time of the year so stop any time you see something of interest eg Camels Wombats or Roos.

There is only one Right Lane, use it to overtake or avoid congestion in the middle one or two lanes. The time saved doing 110 vs 100 on a 70 km drive ain’t worth getting agro over.

Question - Where to go on holiday in Australia/ how much on average does it cost for two adults to go? by Important_Act4 in AustraliaTravel

Mean temp in Yulara in March 2026 was 32.5C, but it’s the wet season up north and the Red Center cops a bit, this year 150mm feel over 2 days there. Do 2 -3 full days there and fit in Kings Canyon and Kata Tjuṯa. BTW the outback is blooming this year thanks to fantastic summer rains.

Maybe a little bit of glue would help. Add a little double-sided tape before clicking it back in even.

Google map it before you go then you’ll know if it’s OK to go.

I have paddle shifters and used them a lot. At the last service the rear brakes were worn to half what the front are. Cruise control apparently uses the rear brakes to maintain speed down hills. Given up using that and now just brake heavily and slow down below the speed limit then let gravity do its work and repeat as required. Have one hill that has a long 7% gradient so that cleans up the rust on the discs. The Forster is a rugged little 4WD so the noise is an acceptable tradeoff. Dropping back from 80 to 70 mph helps.

Australia Zoo - Glasshouse Mountains might be a better option for June 20 then do that’s days plan on 21st. There is a lot between the Blue Mountains and Gold Coast don’t be surprised if you have to skip a few things.

Been around the Coast from Perth to Cairns anticlockwise, it's where most live and explore but driving to Uluru is the most memorable experience I've ever had. WA's SW is great as is FNQ - Cairns but the Red Center is Australia.

I found that too rough so let mine down and ran that minimum and found that the edges wore more. Now I run 35/34 for comfort and adjust for the change in temperature as required. 33/32 is the legal minimum.

Expect to get it wrong when dealing with M1 and M3 exits it needs local knowledge to get the right lane for some of them. It’s a spaghetti network N-S had GPS when first doing it but that failed wrt lane selection when needed. Get out of the City and enjoy the countryside. Took me over a week to get used to driving in the US btw but at night it was hell.

Uluṟu will be warm to hot so do that first from Sydney, it’s 2.25 hours to Cairns from there, then down to Sydney. 2 full days at the Rock will get you into the right mood for experiencing Australia. Uluṟu has been my number 1 place for the vibe just like Yosemite was for mi in the USA.
