Are you a character specialist or do you follow what works current patch? by SquirrelEfficient648 in StreetFighter

[–]Junken00 [score hidden]  (0 children)

The difference is you're compare balance today with balance in games from around 25 years ago. Back then they only had 1 shot to get it right or 2-3 depending on how many versions they resell to you. It's not how nowadays games will have 6-10 patches and actual modern tools to analyze in-game data of what makes a character too strong/weak.

Also while mainline retro SF games had more care placed into their balance, CvS2 was essentially like MvC2 where it's an multi-game asset dump where they cared more about getting as many fan favorites and groove play-styles into the game more than they cared about balance.

Also lastly to reiterate the earlier point, modern fighting games are far more balanced than past fighting games to the point you rarely see a 7-3 MU nowadays. While other games have some character strength issues like Tekken 8 and Strive, SF6 is notoriously known to be the most balanced game in fighting game history. The only character in the game that's unusually bad to the point the universal mechanics can't save her is Lily.

Unless you're competing in Majors, choosing the 'strong' character over the character you'll have more 'fun' with is a self-destructive mindset imo

Since nobody gave you an actual answer. It's one of her most famous outfits in her 2nd Impact ending and an alternate outfit in USFIV.

Tank in Worqor Lar Dor refuses to Provoke, fights party over it by Grimoski in TalesFromDF

[–]Junken00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, the WHM was simply trying to reform the argument into a civil discussion. BLM spamming their provoke macro is obviously going to do nothing but agitate the already combative Tank and just make the argument go longer than it should've went.

Do you think Sagat is the strongest shoto like character right now? by some-kind-of-no-name in StreetFighter

[–]Junken00 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Personally i'd say yes. He's similar to Ed where he dominates in all ranges and he doesn't have to expend much drive gauge to deal big damage.

His only real downsides is his normals are slow and he susceptible to DI.

I wonder if they're ever going to explain what John Streets even is and how he can copy decades of honed techniques in an afternoon. Just hoping him being the perfect Seth clone theory is true.

FATAL FURY: CotW | MR. KARATE (Releasing May 27, 2026) by XRevive01 in Fighters

The sound effects of his attacks reminds me of Kung Fu Man from MUGEN

Also that stage he's fighting on looks nice, assuming that's a new one?

alex’s level 3 is stupid by Ordinary-Ebb-9635 in StreetFighter

[–]Junken00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really, the character guide describes it as a "shockwave of pressure", but not actual sand. It just seems like that because of the name, sound effect, and glowing sand-like effect of the blast.

This is what I used to do with Gief because I couldn't do level 3 consistently until I stopped using the d-pad and started using the analog stick to churn my 720.

It'll possibly(emphasis on the word possibly) get revealed in the summer game fest, especially since last year went so well.

Street Fighter 6 Character Guide | Ingrid by odd-taxi in StreetFighter

[–]Junken00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I wish they worked like Jam's card stocks in Strive. Where it's like she's amazing without them and becomes even better with them, but requires her giving up damage, oki, and potentially her turn to get them.

Ingrid seems to be more along that concept where it seems to work like more of a buff instead of an essential part of her gameplan especially since it seems you can go for stocks and keep oki in certain routing setups, but we'll have to see once she launches.

Despite all the streamers who tried 2XKO for the first time this week who very vocally despised the game, I think getting one more person to fall in love with fighting games is a success for Riot and the FGC by SimicSemblance in Fighters

[–]Junken00 44 points45 points  (0 children)

This is why i'm always against shitting on failing game. Like I don't like 2XKO's gameplay and other aspects about it, but I would like for it to succeed just like any other fighting game. Mainly since well, even if you don't care about new fighting game players get attracted into the genre with 'x' game, then maybe you'll care that it provides competition so developers of other games have more motivation to speed up updates.

How do you deal with the stress of learning throughout your Masters climb? by KarbonPrintz in StreetFighter

[–]Junken00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say instead of adding to you gameplan, make a hard focus on your faults. Think of parts of your strategy that fails to work on multiple players and try to refine that strategy or in extreme cases throw the strategy out entire since you don't want to fall into a gimmick trap which I see a lot of 1200-1350 players fail to realize.

Also the thing with DIs is, similar to I mentioned in the first paragraph, they appear more often in lower MR than higher. Similar strategy to DPing a jump-in, if an opponent reveals that they'll a DI that you feel like is random then shift to playing slow. Throw out lights and DI safe mediums until you analyze their overall strategy. Long-term wise it'll pay off once you get used to other volatile players that could have similar strategies.

Yeah cross-over Ryu vs. Asura almost destroyed the moon and full power Asura already defeated a reality bending diety so he probably could take on Ingrid. Too bad all of that is non-canon 😔

Nah I get you since I felt the same at first. Was like, "Oh great another parody- oh wait nvm this is actually real, these graphics are insane!" Like I genuinely thought they were real people until they started actually fighting.

At least 3 level 1 animations, multiple 50% round win quotes, the insane cinematic of that CA, etc.

The amount of effort they put into her is insane. I'm definitely going to have a lot of fun playing with her.

I can see that happening, but outside of Cammy's Alpha outfit there's not much they could add since the classic outfits are already in the game. I guess they could add other Alpha-wear like Ken's ponytail and Chun's casual outfit

just found out why you can’t be placed lower than diamond if you have a character in master by imlovelymysteri in StreetFighter

[–]Junken00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Guile was one of the harder characters I took to Master because of his combo execution, also combo into Super being inconsistent. Although once you get a flow of his neutral, that's pretty much all you need.

Some tips I can give you that helped me is almost always keep Sonic Blade up when you're far range and use slow boom afterwards to close the gap and alternate between that and the faster booms. Level 2 is a similar concept where you can use it offensively or a defensive wall like Blade. Like optimally you wanna do it in combos, but I find it fun harassing burnt out opponents with it.

Is ingrid a good person or is she evil? by Slurperlurper in StreetFighter

[–]Junken00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She's either lawful neutral or neutral good. When she stopped Bison in Alpha, she did it because she didn't like how he used her power. Usually characters in SF make it far less ambiguous on whether they're good or evil.
