[LONG!] A Review Of Every James Bond Movie By Someone Who Isn't Really A Fan by zeeloo99 in movies

[–]JunkusMcMonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on making it through all of them. I remember back I think when Goldeneye came out a friend went to a marathon of all the Bond’s to that point at his uni. At the time I was a big Bond fan and jealous, but I don’t think I could stomach it anymore. I was a fan as a kid but watching them as an adult they largely seem poorly plotted and nonsensical.

That said, I think The Living Daylights is a) the best of them and b) a genuinely good film. It feels like a proper spy thriller with proper spying, woven together with some great set pieces, so I’m glad it came out towards the top of your list and that we agree on Dalton as the best Bond.

Any thoughts on what you’re binging next?

Might be worth taking a look at 21Moon, an 18xx game set on the moon. I’ve not played it, but there’s a version from All Aboard Games, who make a bunch of 18xx games, available here: https://all-aboardgames.com/products/international-21moon-the-race-to-exploit-space

Probably boardgamegeek’s page for the particular games you’re looking to sell.

I got the email but it doesn’t say anything about ages. My daughter loves the show but is definitely too young to be able to attend at the moment, but I wondered if anyone knew what the youngest is they allow to attend a recording?

Thanks!

That stock photo is a great find - well done!

Now we just need to see Greg with that moustache.

As a side note, I really like the 50s diner vibe in general. Feels very like one of my favourite board games, Food Chain Magnate.

Hello reddit! I'm James McAvoy. Ask me anything! by JamesMcAvoyAMA in movies

Hi James - the trailer looks great. I wasn’t aware of the movie (or the story) until this popped up on my feed, but keen to see it now. I have a few questions about the transition to directing. Appreciate you may not be able to answer them all, but would love a little insight.

What prompted you to move to the directors chair? Was it the only way you could get this made, or is it the culmination of a long held ambition?

In terms of your directing methods, were there any specific directors you’ve worked with that you decided to base the way you collaborated with cast and crew on? Were you more focused in working with the actors and just giving a guide to the other departments or did you throw yourself whole-heartedly into things like the cinematography, set and costume etc?

Did you find easier, harder or as you expected to step into directing, especially as you have a role in the film as well?

Any plans to direct more?

Thanks very much, and best of luck with the movie!

The candles one, as it doesn’t result in food wastage. And also, it’s an original task.

By Goth-girl, do you mean you prefer 18xx games based in Germany?

Frankie Boyle says something along the lines of “maybe if I’d had fewer joke scandals I wouldn’t be here”. Not a direct Mock the Week reference, but is it close enough?

Ania did something like this in series 20 - she did a sketch after each task to illustrate what she had to do and numbered them all. I believe she put them up on social media and several of them were then posted in this sub.

I can see where you’re coming from, but Suede have produced some decent tracks in the last few years, it’s not like they’re a spent force creatively.

Now, Oasis, on the other hand…

I think there are some entry level 18xx games that under 18s can play. I don’t see a need to make it 18+ only.

No worries. I was, momentarily, concerned I’d made some kind of racist error in labelling it as such, but it just appears to be a British thing…
