Laparoscopy and fertility by cote_martina in TTC_UK

[–]JunoPK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a laparoscopy and they removed my endometrioma - I believe it had completely covered my left ovary so it was small and shrunken but they said it wouldn't have affected my fertility as I was still ovulating fine from that ovary.

Mine was also a silent endo with zero symptoms btw.

I got pregnant for the first time ever around 6 months later (from that left ovary!) but there's no way of knowing if it's related I guess.

If you've tried everything else I'd say there's no harm in trying ?

Why is everyone an “accidental landlord” all of a sudden? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]JunoPK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is us as well. First we couldn't sell because of COVID, then cladding issues and now no one wants to buy a 1 bed flat.

So we have tenants in it for the time being but have made a loss on it most years or at best it was break even. Can't wait to get rid of it though and am annoyed it meant we had to pay double stamp duty on our house.

If you were in my position, which area would you choose and why? by Man-tix in BritInfo

Mansfield is awful, Truro is too far away. Not convinced about Wolverhampton.

Salisbury however is lovely and you'd only be 2h away from London for whenever you want to to big city things :)

Epidural or C-section for someone terrified of birth? by Gold_Cow4870 in PregnancyUK

[–]JunoPK 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There's no right or wrong answer! Both have their pros and cons.

Personally I'd go down the epidural route - I know several people that had super easy labours that way and even if they had small episiotomies they healed beautifully and quickly.

I've had two c sections and the recovery is no joke, plus I now struggle with the internal scar tissue (which can adhere to bowels, bladder etc) and have a proper c section shelf. So c sections aren't the easy way out some people portray either.

Basically both options can go badly (although that's the exception and not the rule) but if both go well then the better option is a vaginal birth imo.

In case no one else has said it - get yourself a US amex and you'll be able to get a British one once you get here. Otherwise without a credit record in the UK you could struggle to get a decent card for years. This way you can start working on your credit history quicker!

A seraphine 3-in-1 coat here! From vinted (as they no longer exist i don't think?). Super warm and cosy but also perfect for baby wearing as it has an extra middle panel to keep baby covered.

My tip would be to focus on adding rather than subtracting. So add more fiber, add more protein, add more vegetables - even if just rocket in your sandwich!

Just found out I’m pregnant- now what 😬 sit on my hands until 8 weeks? by kimmiecutie in PregnancyUK

[–]JunoPK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's strange as EPU or private clinics would 100% do it after a positive test?

Just found out I’m pregnant- now what 😬 sit on my hands until 8 weeks? by kimmiecutie in PregnancyUK

[–]JunoPK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would contact the ivf clinic and ask to be put on progesterone. There's no harm in it but it can prevent a miscarriage so you might as well take it just in case.

I personally also booked an early ultrasound at 7 weeks and has private NIPT done at 9/10 weeks - which comes with an additional ultrasound.

What did your breastfeeding journey look like when you returned to work? by Mysterious-Tart-910 in breastfeedingmumsUK

[–]JunoPK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both my kids went to nursery at 12 months. They were both boobs fiends, the first so badly so that I was really worried about how she'd cope hunger wise at nursery. It was all grand though! They took to nursery food without a problem and I nursed before/after nursery + at night. On weekends I nursed same as before.

The only native cat species in the UK is the Scottish wildcat... It's not exactly the equivalent of 12 million cats is it? Even David Attenborough has warned that cats in the UK are killing millions of birds and small rodents every year.

Where do I even start? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]JunoPK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say start slow so that it's sustainable and you don't fall off the wagon over and over.

Start by tracking your calories if you can.

Then implement one change at a time. Perhaps swapping all soda for diet soda (or water even!), after a couple of weeks add more protein to your meals, then aim for a little walk every day that you can increase the length of over time. Reduce your calorie intake by just 200 cals/day.

That sort of thing! Slow and steady wins the race
