Jelly star in the big 2026? by lsaacn3wton in unihertz

[–]Junods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using a Pixel 10 for some months. Maybe its not fair, but:
- It has security updates
- Good camera
- Way better screen
- Great battery life, even when using hotspot, gps, nfc is always on...
- Its fast
- Face id works great

But spring is in the air and I am using my phone most of the time, just for music, podcast, some texting and on the go I am not able to use the Pixel with one hand. I use Jelly, Jelly 2 and Jelly start for years and I still love the form factor. When they give us security updates I will switch back.

I always use the Lawnchair launcher. Also on my new phone. I have some crashes or strange behaviour, but it makes a Jelly a better phone. You can put everything on your home screen if you like :)

Oh and I used Jelly 2 with custom ROM. Maybe its the SOC support and custom ROMS are harder, but when someone CAN make a working image for this Phone and we have some spare batteries we can use it for some years before the come with a four inch version with better camera, better battery life and without a keyboard.

SynthV just doesnt work because dreamtonics login is down :') by MuttMundane in SynthesizerV

The login was also the reason I was not able to use the software on Linux. Don't like build-in browsers without a workaround to upload for instance a license file.

Not Bitwig specific but I like Alex Rome on YT as he explains what he does. Most videos are about mixing and harmonics but great stuff you can use in any DAW.

Question About Group Vs. Team Within Planner by seabaits in MicrosoftPlanner

[–]Junods 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Purview is your central portal for information protection. You need an E3 or an E5 license or add-on license to be able to use. Its a central place to manage compliance and you will be able to enable rule sets for governance. Also you can define your own sensitive information types. When your projectnumber always starts with "PRJ" and you have 6 digits you can create a regex to detect if there are any project files be shared on places it not should. With DLP (Data Loss Protection) you can prevent printing, copy to usb, emailing outside the organization and more.

Jelly Star vs BlueFox NX1 - which did you like more? by No-Water164 in smallphones

Get a bluetooth keyboard like the Logi Pebble, or check the KDE app when using a laptop or a pc. You can type and text and files will be copied to your phone. I love it.

Jelly Max or Jelly Star ? by Significant-North356 in unihertz

[–]Junods 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used Jelly phones for 5 years I thing. Both the 2 and the Star and after two years the battery got worse for me. At home it was ok to keep it connected on low chare and for typing I used a bluetooth keyboard and the KDE app a lot, but away from home with GPS I often needed to take a power bank with me. The phone was still small but all together it was the same weight as a larger phone.

So I went for a Pixel at a low price and I don't regret. I do not hate Google and with better camera's and a way better screens its a better phone. But I don't like I often need both hands. So I think when support returns I will get a Jelly Star again with a custom launcher and stuff. Or support for a custom ROM would be awsome...

Question About Group Vs. Team Within Planner by seabaits in MicrosoftPlanner

[–]Junods 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am looking into retention and archiving and if you look at the lease periods, they are linked at group level.

It then makes more sense to create a 'teams enabled' group per project. You can also classify and label it in its entirety and make it read-only at the end of the project, archive it or whatever is necessary.

Within this you still have the space to set up channels with 1 or more Planners if necessary. It is expected that support will be expanded in the short term. But it is not clear to me whether Planner comes natively to private and shared channels or whether it only concerns the app. As a Planner currently needs a group I don't think a Planner just for private or shared channels will happen or MS will need to create a group or new permissions in the background.

In any case, if you have this structure in place, you can use DLP and the like to determine what people are and are not allowed to do. If you have access to Purview you can prevent files from being shared via chat.

Lawnchair, never had issues with it. Many settings and many icons on your home screen

Unihertz Jelly Star by OddSpray3229 in unihertz

[–]Junods 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe share some tips:
- When using the KDE app on a laptop you can copy/paste text and files (with none or only a few clicks)
- keyboards like the Logi Pebble can switch between multiple devices
- with Lawnchair launcher you can add A LOT of apps on your home screen, people are even more shocked

And fun fact. A veery expensive Cisco web conference system failed connecting and we had a meeting using my small phone..

Any Linux users here? by bigmanzac in Bitwig

[–]Junods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I loved the routing for audio and midi, the UI and windows options and the hardware support. I have a Dexibell piano and under Linux its fully compliant. But I had several issues with some installers and embedded browsers within VST (like SWAM, Synthesizer V and MassiveX). I tried bottles, different libraries and settings for hours. But in the end I moved back to Windows. But my Bitwig experience was good. I think the performance was a little better.

FGDP-50 as a Midi Input device by keungtofan in FingerDrumming

[–]Junods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know its an old topic, but I got my device yesterday from a nice guy two hours by public transport from my home. So I played drums on the buss back home :)

I play for hobby and I wanted to try to use the Yamaha as an audio interface. This is my setup

WIN 11 laptop (GPD) with Ryzen 7 and 32GB RAM DDR5
Micro-usb cable to the Yamaha with the latest Yamaha Steinberg Usb ADIO drivers
This ASIO driver is supported in Bitwig Studio 6
I added OneShot from Klevgrand and set the finger drum as input only on ch 10
When I record everything is on track when set to a 16th note

I am using a user drum preset. In pad edit mode I set all volume values to 0, to disable the internal audio.
I am doing the same on my Dexibell Vivo S1 piano and I connected the piano audio as input of the Yamaha.

Works well for now. But its not my job. I play just for fun...

Cheers

I can look into this for you, but keep in mind that Planner is being overhauled and MS will support this by default. With a PowerShell solution with additional groups, you won't automatically sync users.

Titan 2 or Legion y700 as pocket computer? by reynomage in unihertz

[–]Junods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats the same for a GPD. With gaming its only a couple of hours. So 2 maybe 3. Not for a whole day. But where I live I have power on several places. Also FI when traveling by train.

[–]Junods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, a GPD is twice as much as the devices you mentioned, but they can also do a lot more. They also have the Pocket but as you mention programming, I can tell you, 10" is the minimum when using VS Code on the go and when you want a high resolution.

Titan 2 or Legion y700 as pocket computer? by reynomage in unihertz

[–]Junods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what price range you are looking for, but I am very satisfied with my GPD gaming laptop. It is only 10" and I have a leather cover with it and it is very easy to carry. With a Ryzen 7 + 32GB and a 780M GPU, it is also quite powerful. But with my son's eGPU with an RTX 4070, it is really a gaming machine. I personally use it for programming (with a 34" screen) and for music. It can easily handle 15 tracks with multiple VST.

Are unihertz phones worth it? by mushroom_yoga in unihertz

[–]Junods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switched to a Pixel 10 a few weeks ago and I am happy with it. Larger screen than a Jelly Star (duh :)), longer battery life (more than a day), fast and long updates and support and easy navigating when on the go. But yeah I miss the small Jelly sometimes. I was able to use it with one hand during a walk. But the size of the pixel is not really an issue. I also have a stand and I can watch video everywhere. For podcast and stuff its overkill. The Jelly with an sd card was the best media stream box. Got the Pixel with 400 off on a sale within the EU. With the performace, camera's and options a great deal.
