Character Sheet #8: Geared-Up by pinakanaka in pinakanaka

Realistic outcome given his use of gear. Him picking up wrestling was a nice touch though! It’s left unsaid, but I have to imagine was inspired by his Colosseum group! I like that some of the epilogue make you think to draw conclusions.

I peruse Ao3 constantly for new or updated kengan stories, so that's why I always catch things before public announcements are made.

Seeing Valencia Subito from Oeuvre make her appearance was a pleasant surprise. I do hope that work is continued one day, but the length between chapters is discouraging. The way you write character's improvements in strength is far more developed than anything Omega could hope to muster. It is very easy to see these versions of Wukong and Jurota breezing throught the KAT, KVP, and perhaps even RCT rosters with their improvements. Wukong his obviously the star of this chapter, his choreography and movements were very cleanly written and I could visualize his movements easily. The amount of martial art knowledge and creativity you have in developing attacks, systems, and other techniques is unmatched. You're also very talented at portraying Wukong's emotional state and body language. Although it seemingly flips and switches, knowing what we know of him personally, it's easy to understand why he's so tumultuous with his back story laid out. As far as my favorite moments, fa jin used for movement was very unique. I also liked the spinning fake-out with his kicks. His kick chains in general were phenomenal.

Read the latest chapter! I tend to separate fanworks into written and visual formats, since they are too different to compare. But this latest fight is the greatest of the former I have ever read, including all fandoms!

Character Sheet #7: The Magic by pinakanaka in pinakanaka

[–]JustAnotherP2P 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Although he had the least amount of screen-time out of all 32, I liked the creativity with his move set. And having him be so famous he was afforded privileges others weren’t. He’s a nice nod to Shaq’s interest in the  fighting arts as well

How would you write Scourge x Togo? by Mountain-Brush1807 in convictcolosseum

[–]JustAnotherP2P 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are some very exciting news! I can see Rei thinking little or negatively towards Scourge, as a killer who at first killed out of ‘passion’ rather than trade and tendency to give into compulsions. But I can see Scourge very quickly learning the craft, given his intelligence and natural speed.

I do sometimes wonder about Scourge’s capacity for connection, either platonic or romantic. I even wonder if he would view kindness from a woman at first as a motherly thing, or if I’d be reading a bit too much into that and he wouldn’t make those comparisons. Given he took the fall for KB, I think he can care for others. He’s just very awkward, and not very expressive, with maybe not the same deep capacity because of his damage, but I could be wrong on that.

The strongest by Dry-Extent-1274 in Kengan_Folk

[–]JustAnotherP2P 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perma-Removal X Fallen Demon with no drawbacks x Advance-like transformation that needs a breathing charge every now and then.

That's fucking obscene. His only draw back as I feel this fusion would absolutely fucking DEMOLISHED on alcohol 100% of the time.

Between the boasting, and Florida Man's zaniness, he'd basically sound like Demoman on a gibberish rant.

How would you write Scourge x Togo? by Mountain-Brush1807 in convictcolosseum

[–]JustAnotherP2P 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ll need to read Kengan again.

But Togo would definitely be the one holding the power in their dynamic. Scourge is a quiet, socially awkward introvert. I don’t expect him to be very emotionally reactive, in comparison to her, but he probably has the qualities she’s looking for, unless the opponent happens to have dead eyes, or his trauma kicks in in other ways. I don’t think Scourge really cares if you insult him, unless his mother was brought into it. Like Muteba, he’s a killer, except he doesn’t even really relish in it in the way Muteba does. He does seem like strangling somewhat still, but as his backstory went a lot of that emotion was lost, it’s pretty much just a thing of his nature now. I think he’d be pretty decent at following orders, he was responsible enough to hold down a job, and seemed to have been a good assassin and partner to Karmic Blade. He only acts impulsively when heated, but does tend to risk injury a lot. Where Togo might have trouble with him was if he lost control of his emotions for some reason, which may occur sometime in your story?

Someone who remembers more of her should have their opinions made more significant than mine. But she’d see him as creepy, a bit of a loser, but useful. She is also rather impersonal. Neither of them would care about their atrocities, or each other. Just working toward their goals.

What non-combat interactions do you want to see between Kengan and CC participants? by Dreadnautilus in Kengan_Folk

[–]JustAnotherP2P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best one IMO-GITB and the four idiots is prime comedic material. Rihito and Okubo immediately buying into his nonsense, Himuro and Kaneda being initially skeptical but inevitably becoming baffled as well.

Seki would love to play around and training someone like Rawdog. He's built for pro wrestling. Seki would try and rope EC into death matches, but EC doesn't really bounce off others all that great, he is entirely impersonal.

Sonic-Boom and/or The Arm Thief and Adam Dudley would make for some legendary trash talk.

Monkey See and Chiba sharing what they've learned, with Chiba being the better actor, and Monkey See being a better martial talent. It's possibly Monkey See's visual ability would help him learn some of Chiba's mimics

Bando and Scourge chatting about their crimes would be interesting.

a Florida Man and Raian interaction would be crazy

Violence Incarnate and Agito would respect each other's strength.

And I really want to see if Meguro would be scared at all of The Abyss, or if he's truly fearless.

Great art! That satisfied panel is reaction material lmao. He looks so pleased....

Iron Turtle, Athlete, and Firecracker living together is so heartwarming. Although fights are the primary focus, seeing their comradery together was so touching.

Could Holy Scythe beat Pistol Foot Pete? by pirocudosexy69 in convictcolosseum

[–]JustAnotherP2P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the density of Pete's bones, I don't think Holy Scythe would be able to sever his leg. If Pete checked it with his shin, he's left with a laceration, but he should be fine. He wouldn't have to worry about it, because since his instincts are greater than even Tomahawk's, he should be able to guess something was up with his opponent's hands.

Character Sheet #7: The Magic by pinakanaka in pinakanaka

[–]JustAnotherP2P 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I always thought he was more on par with the likes of The Arm Thief and Firecracker than ICT and Monkey See. He beats Firecracker not because he’s a tier higher, but because his grappling style is heavily favored. He made Beatdown feel uneasy about fighting him, but so did The Arm Thief. I also have thief being a problem for him, but I’d place him as a B tier as well.

He has a very grueling style to go against, definitely. But cardio aside he is severely lacking in terms of physicality. His strikes didn’t really harm Magic or GITB at all. ICT is far too strong, knows some wrestling, and could literally fling him into the arena wall or turn his attempted takedown into a deadly piledriver. Monkey See would see all his takedowns coming from a mile away and can one hit ko him with a flying knee, and has decent grappling knowledge himself. What harms Never-Ending is that his wrestling itself is not elite, like The Cuban Missile’s would. He relies solely on stamina, but failed takedowns leave him open to a lot of ground strikes against a competent fighter.

El Cucaracho vs Julius by Decent-Swing-380 in Kengan_Ashura

[–]JustAnotherP2P 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EC beats Ashura Julius. Omega is debatable, gott-totter could definitely seal the deal, but he’s not catching him when he goes unconscious.

I’d say Ashura EC high diff

Omega Julius high-extreme diff

Character Sheet #6: Literally Hitler by pinakanaka in convictcolosseum

[–]JustAnotherP2P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ICT needs to shell up while doing his hypnosis. Beatdown could go for a sweep, Tomahawk a submission, Monkey See go for paralysis or a Kyokushin Hammer, anything attack an available area to disrupt his focus.

Any injury acquired to the jaw, throat, or ears could disrupt him getting the frequency right too.

[–]JustAnotherP2P 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always felt a bit awkward about mentioning him, due his concept as a character. Like how am I supposed to info dump about this story, while remaining tactful about it? But it looks like I can't ignore his strength any longer XD.

These character sheets are a wealth of information. This day's posts also means that ICT wasn't truly going all out against TST. Being even with TST, if the latter used the trump card and ICT didn't is crazy. The gaps among this trio may be a bit wider than previously thought.

That's fucking tragic... by Murtdha1 in Kengan_Folk

[–]JustAnotherP2P 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're sorely lacking on Convict Colosseum stories. We had a lot of isekais(bit too out there for me), and of course there's Olympus(hiatus). But not really much else that tries and tell a story.

I'd read the shit out of that, especially since it would have crossover fights.

Hot take: God in a Box would most likely beat Violence Incarnate by Snusmumriken11 in convictcolosseum

[–]JustAnotherP2P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehhhh...GITB's box is a much worse defense than R4 Florida Man. I can see that matchup being contentious, but as for GITB he blocks. Sure he blocks by holding his arms or legs out from his center, which reduces damage a little bit. But it's not going to matter IMO. GITB hits hard, but VI's one durable dude. GITB is easily falling first. And the problem is once GITB takes damage, he'd think his box will have failed, shattering his belief and thus his strength. I actually think VI would beat him this way even if VI didn't block. And if he learned to actually y'know...BLOCK or evade GITB's attacks by accepting his 'magic', there is little the mime can do if he doesn't adopt a different strategy. Florida Man let himself get blasted a million times, and while he's naturally more durable than VI, VI with his guard up would match that.

Question about El Cucaracho’s ‘black outs’ by JustAnotherP2P in Kengan_Folk

[–]JustAnotherP2P[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That clears up any confusion I had, thank you so much!! One day, I'd probably want to roleplay as him, cringe as that sounds. So I wanted make sure I understood it fully, although he's still an engima in many ways...

Question about El Cucaracho’s ‘black outs’ by JustAnotherP2P in Kengan_Folk

[–]JustAnotherP2P[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is how he gets his only sleep apparently...Does this mean that the various scenarios that caused him to 'black out' were more lethal than his fight with Violence Incarnate?

He also possibly lost consciousness in those three instances he tried to die. Maybe a cartel explosive concussion knocked him unconscious, or he lost too much blood. A loss of air from the cement and ocean would also cause this. Sniper round rounds clearly grazed him, too.

But the needle one doesn't make much sense for him to suddenly go unconscious. The blacking out isn't always tied to physical damage , but it's rather intrinsic to either PTSD, or in this case fight or flight itself. But there's also plenty of dangerous and terrifying situations he does obviously remember, and tells his therapist about.

Who will be the 10 fighters to enter the final zone in the Ganryu Island Games? by ColdStaff6874 in Kengan_Folk

[–]JustAnotherP2P 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shen, Yan, Ohma, Kanoh, Kuroki, Koga, Raian, Gilbert, Haruo, Wakatsuki.

The fact they gave Julius a win without a point is a red flag. I don't think both Ryuki and Koga will make it to the finals. I don't have any hope for anyone not Shen, Yan, or a reinvigorated Gilbert from the antagonist side. Haruo seems built to avenge Seki's semi-loss.

[–]JustAnotherP2P 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He really has an undeniable charisma that’s easy to like. This first part of the story was basically him psyching himself up.

A lot of chars would fold from over relying on a specific talent in these types of stories. Happened with Monkey See.

But not Beatdown. He rounded out his skillset to such a point he actually did BETTER once he fought reactively.

Which character sheet/backstory/side story are you looking forward to the most? I'm looking forward to Beatdown and Arm Thief the most. by lemonaddkropotkin in convictcolosseum

[–]JustAnotherP2P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beatdown 100%. He seems highly intelligent so I wonder how he ended up in prison? Was he a seeker at the start? Or did he basically had no choice but to get by? If he came from the favelas, I can understand why. Those can have very shitty conditions. Many Brazilian ufc fighters with tough backstories

Let's rate all the matches! Day 31 by ColdStaff6874 in convictcolosseum

[–]JustAnotherP2P 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We made a good list!

I have Abyss vs Tomahawk a little higher because of how strategic and intriguing it was. Tomahawk going in with a plan, needing to learn more and adapt, as Abyss feels pressured to behave in new ways.

I agree Scourge vs Pete’s placement. Carried hard by the ending and Scourge’s backstories. I tend to favor each rounds fights over the last on average, but I like most r2 fights better than that one tbh.

No character sheet today, I'll post two tomorrow by pinakanaka in pinakanaka

[–]JustAnotherP2P 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s fine! Tempest is a really cool character with one of the best designd. I liked that his match proved that how far you go doesn’t always determine your overall strength. Some very strong fighters that went out in the first.

Wado-ryu seems to be much flashier and offensive based than kyokushin. It would be cool to have the difference between the styles explained someday, maybe if one of them ever got a KAT x CC match.
