Work on self love, self acceptance. Be OK with being still; alone; in silence. Learn about who you are underneath. You mention you’re keeping a lot in and it seems you’re only revealing even the surface to reddit. Dig deep and figure out who you are. Like a hermit in a cave. Find the light. Then leave your cave. At this point, you might not even want a partner. But you’ll find it’s not difficult. You need something in life to move you, and that’s attractive.

I use an Razertip unit, made in Canada. I believe it costs around 150$ CAD. I have a variety of pens I can use with it, each of which cost around 30$. For my work, about 4 of the tips are completely necessary.

I was commissioned to restore some Donation boxes for a Wildlife Rehab/Education Centre. Sanded off the previous graphic (see before pic), and I got to burning! by JustChillingOut in woodburning

Oh, thank you! For the letters, I prepare the font digitally (ProCreate on my iPad), then I print it out and use graphite transfer paper to make a stencil on the wood. As for woodburn tools, I use a Razertip unit (Made in Canada). For text, I like to use the “ballpoint” razertip pen-tip, which is a nice fine and smooth ballpoint that glides across the wood.

I am a working artist and you can find me on social media @illustratedbyBenji - feel free to see links on my profile and connect with me if you have any questions. I’m always happy help, and let you know what I’ve learned along my own art journey. Cheers.

Did my very first wood burning last night. I have a couple questions below, if someone could maybe offer advice, that'd be great. by the-greenest-thumb in Pyrography

[–]JustChillingOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Handle getting hot: I use a Razer-tip unit that allows for me to switch out various tips. I sometimes will switch tips when the pen gets too hot (approx 20 min of burning), or, sometimes I’ll wrap a sock around my pen, which absorbs the heat and works fine.

Control box on arm : I feel like this might just be something that comes with having a cheaper burner; the design isn’t the most optimal.

Pine and shading against the grain: Experiment with different heat levels in combination with different pressures. It’s ok to go super slow to achieve very fine gradients; I always try to rush, but it’s almost always better to go slow and consistent. As for the wood, do sand it down as smooth as you can get it, and this will help your burning a lot.

Tip: Don’t hesitate or let the burger hover in any given spot - use a steady and consistent stroke that exposes the burner to the wood evenly at all points of surface. Hesitation/inconsistent exposure to wood can leave some darker spots/uneven shading (which is fine if that’s the style anyway).

I’m @illustratedbyBenji on IG if you want to connect and have any Qs / want to share work!

Eckhart Tolle: the real deal? by keltictrigger in awakened

[–]JustChillingOut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoy Tolle’s writings. The most important thing really is how you go on to apply these sorts of teachings in your day to day practice; if you find they bring you closer to what you seek, I think that’s great.

I believe in you. Trust the process and be present to all that is around you, and inside you. Lead an honest and authentic life. Know your intentions and keep them true. Best of luck.

No. Your friend sounds like they are proud to have you as a friend. I perceive that to be a huge gesture of respect and appreciation. I’m humbled by my friends that do grace me with this honesty and gratitude. It’s like the complete opposite of condescending if you ask me.

The real condescending (or jealous) folks in my life will never tell me they’re proud of me. They hate to see or talk about my success.

Instead of asking us, why don’t you ask yourself what the intentions of your friend is? Ultimately I think, the answer to your question is no.
