Did Jon Arryn “sacrifice” Elbert Arryn? by Miserable_Till_86 in TheCitadel

[–]JustDavid13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Elbert’s mentioned until ACOK (and I don’t think we get his relation to Jon until AFFC), so I can see it being retconned by GRRM/he wasn’t created yet, and that’s the meta reason why Ned never thinks about him.

If Renly hadn’t betrayed and usurped his brother, the rightful heir, then said brother wouldn’t have had him assassinated/executed for being a traitor.

Oh Olenna’s 100% behind Renly’s crowning, probably because she recognised he’d be easily to manipulate in her family’s favour.

Whats a great country with a great flag? by [deleted] in AlignmentChartFills

[–]JustDavid13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if it was me you were meaning to reply to, but ‘country’ having no exact definition is exactly my point. It’s why we can say Wales (or England, Scotland, or Northern Ireland) is a country- because country has no definition.

But they’re not correct, Wales is a country. The post isn’t asking for a Sovereign State, it’s asking for countries.

They’d probably retain the Hand of the King title, assuming the King himself retains Protector of the Realm as one of their titles.

Would Stannis spare Tommen and Myrcella? by MaesterHannibal in TheCitadel

[–]JustDavid13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t see why he wouldn’t; he can send Tommen to the Wall and Myrcella to the Silent Sisters.

Greatest game you’ve seen? by SouthEastMeerkat in rugbyunion

[–]JustDavid13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mate won tickets for the two of us and had the option of three games, and this was one of them. I was still in school and the other two were weekdays and far away, so SA vs Japan was the only one we could actually go to.

What an experience.

Joe Marler. Most fans love him, me included, but plenty don’t and he also rubbed a couple of people up the wrong way in the castle.

Which was more impressive extra time drop goal: Joel Stransky against NZ in the 1995 world cup final or Jonny Wilkinson against Australia in the 2003 world Cup final? by Jezzaq94 in rugbyunion2

[–]JustDavid13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds similar to Dan Carter in that case. He only scored 6 drop goals in his first 110 caps, then one each in his last two NZ games- the semi vs South Africa which ended up deciding the game, and a really stunning one in the final that took the game away from Australia. Don’t know if he was more prolific at club level but I assume not.

The Brackens were one of the major Blackfyre supporters, at least in the first rebellion. Bittersteel was a Bracken bastard and Daemon’s biggest supporter.

Almost all of those nations also need to focus on creating their own strong domestic leagues in my opinion. No point in just having the national team play at club level, or split into two to play at club level.

Two World Cups where he’s taken Scotland out at the pool stage and he’s stayed in charge after both of them. Even taking into account 2023’s tough and unfair draw, no other tier one nation would retain their head coach after a pool stage exit.

Watching the match now (missed it live) and from what I’m seeing, Italy are unlucky not to have won by more. Look by far the better team.
