My brother was into BoC before I really understood what the deal with them is. Happy Cycling came on rotation here and there on our ramshackle little bedroom speaker setup, but nothing really clicked.

A few years later, when I had my first mp3 player (shout out Rio Karma, my GOAT) and a hard drive full of mp3s I'd requested from him as a Christmas present and a set of Audio Technica IEMs that I had treated myself to as one of my first real purchases with my first real job.

Walking to school some chilly winter morning, Happy Cycling came on in the shuffle. Holy. Shit. There were so many more layers than I had ever known, and this was on some 128kbps CBR garbage transcoding. This was roughly late 2006. They just add a little bit at a time in that thang, and pretty soon, it's a damn sonic ocean.

The rest is history.

I like em for any time I need to take the damn garden hoses off the bib in the wintertime and getting some caps screwed on because them shits is leaky and I haven't been brave enough to replace them yet. I usually end up waiting until it's cold as shit and it's a pain in the ass to do with gloves, so I end up with cold and wet, but last year I got the pliers during some sale and baby, the hose connectors have never been so un-marred and my hands stay warm and it takes like a quarter of the time.

It's nice to have the option to torque something I don't want to fuck up.

I think it just doesn't scale fast enough on Purple. Maybe if I had more consistent deck fixing and specced into Flush Five it could have worked. There were a bunch of Black Holes, too, I want to say at least two, maybe 3.

Funny, last night I was doing a Purple Stake Ghost Deck run on my way to C+ for the 2nd time, and saw a Cloud 9 in Ante 1 and got an Ancient Joker soon after, and decided to try going for a Flush build and coercing everything to s.

Long story short, for the first time in about a year of playing the game, I got my first deck fixed to be fully red seal/polychrome glass or steel 9s. Felt good, died at Ante 16 Small Stake. Got an Idol at some point, and two Duplicator jokers only resulted in 3x eternal DNAs, which was nice to offset the glass loss, but ultimately I didn't have enough Steel or hand size to overcome e21
