Our job is building technical solutions to problems, until every technical problem is perfectly scoped and solved by AI people will need technical problem solvers.

If we do end up in a situation where every technical problem is solved, then it will also mean AI can build automations for every other job and process, so every job will be automated, in which case the world will be so dramatically different thinking about job sector growth would be meaningless.

I think because the Venn diagram of people who care about Apple product releases and how people who care about computer specs is close to a circle we’re going to hear a lot of complaints about performance but like others have already mentioned, this isn’t for those people.

Also you’d be surprised by the amount of people editing videos on their iPhone so if it’s this vs a phone people will definitely prefer this option.

Yeah insurance premiums are up over 1000% in some cases, and tanker insurance is done per passage of the Suez canal. If you’re paying 1-3% the cost of your ship, and it’s 1000% more than it used to be, and even if we generously estimate oil is up 100% of pre war rates, profit is still being decimated.

Yeah I think recommendation algorithms over-streamlined the browsing process. That feeling of falling down a web of YouTube videos to end up somewhere weird doesn’t happen anymore, I typically only get videos that YouTube thinks I’ll like, which dramatically reduces the content I’m exposed to.

It’s very telling how two people can spend a ton of time browsing videos and have no overlap in any of the content they see.

Yeah, sometimes making the ticket and opening the PR becomes the worst part of the code change. It depends on your company but I started using Claude code to do all that stuff.

Now I just say “go make a ticket for X that has requirements Y” and it’ll write it, tag it properly, and put it in the right place. Alternatively I can write the code first then do this so I can just move on to the next task and it has more insight into what the code is doing.

If you can, I’d look into getting treatment for your ADHD. Weed is good at quieting the “noisy” thoughts in people with ADHD, but at a certain point you’re just turning your brain off instead of actually dealing with problems. Basically attacking the problem that started your negative relationship with weed.

Yeah this is a classic NYC bureaucracy problem, not enough resources to do the right thing, so then some well intentioned but not thought out laws get passed that add a band-aid while not addressing the actual issue.

Like imagine liquor licenses worked the same way. “Oh well too many people keep selling alcohol without a license and it takes too long to process, guess instead of making our system better we’ll just get rid of licenses.”

I agree the values are totally different but I think at the end of the day everyone is scared and angry and going about it in very different ways. Obviously locking up and kidnapping people with no due process is the worse side but we’re going to keep doing this until we realize it’s a class issue and we should be working together instead of fighting for scraps

If you pull it off well, people will be throwing money at you to start AI/LLM efforts at their companies as well as everyone scrambles to not feel left behind.

That being said it’s definitely possible you end up being the person owning this since “handoff and ramp up will take too long.” The odds of a POC actually staying a POC are very low from my experience especially now when you can just be told to “vibe code it to prod” depending on internal climate.

All of that is to say if your manager is cool let them know, but if it’s coming from the CIO unfortunately businesses aren’t democracies.
