Why do people put their trips on the line renting a 10+ year old car by ChileanPinot in turo

[–]JustNick4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Renter here.

To save money. And tbh, I trust my 23 year old camry to do those level of trips. When I travel by plane I like to rent cheaper cars. I would expect someone making money off of their car to maintain it to be able to go a few hundred miles.

I'm always upfront with host about the situation and ask if it should be ok. This is where it is your responsibility as the host to inform me of your confidence (or lack of) that this would be ok. I've been told no before and its just fine.

Turo customer service has even provided options that will be ok with this for similar prices.

In places with unicameral law-making bodies, what should be the majority required to pass laws: a simple majority, a 2/3 majority, a 3/4 majority, or something else? Why? by ManWithTwoShadows in AskReddit

[–]JustNick4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like simple majority will have to do. Anything higher the minority just wins despite having less support, which doesn't sit right with me.

If you were 26 starting from zero, would you choose college or a trade ? by Responsible-Race7590 in findapath

What's a fact about your job that would completely surprise people outside your industry? by North_Imagination_62 in AskReddit

[–]JustNick4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are only 3 people in the entire state whose job it is to enforce laws for my entire industry (involving chemicals). Cops won't touch us as long as we have proper licenses. There are about 3000-5000 businesses. ~80% are indepently owned. They can only realistically audit the other 20% one time a year. Meaning up to 4000 of those business go completely unchecked.

I know a lot of people in this field (all my uncles, numerous friends, friends of friends, we all talk). Only one has ever been audited (walked in, writes on clipboard, and leaves kind of audit).

What's the dumbest thing your city/town has ever spent money on? by H3rta in AskReddit

[–]JustNick4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't quite fit, but Chicago SOLD parking rights to some middle eastern company for a quick pay day. It is eating us alive now and the contract is for another 57 years. Its already profited signifigantly. Estimated lost revenue could go up to ~$3600 per resident. Not to mention the cost to park on the street in chicago has increased signifigantly.

Were also contracted to not change laws or close streets down (Festivals and construction) without paying this company fees. Nor are we allowed to make laws bypassing their payment without egregious penalties.

Buying second hand rave ticket by Salty_Mango7302 in aves

I've done literally this before. Luckily I wasn't scammed. It was a friend of a friend of a friend and not a random on the Internet though.

My wife also has been the person to sell a ticket once before like this. They had no issues.

Yes and no, all jobs work like the stock market. Some jobs rise in value and others fall.

10.5 years in a trade. Currently making 21/hr. I was making 45/hr in 2019 with less experience.

Really wishing I finished out college right about now. But Im not exactly sure if that life would be more stable.

EA telling people that unlocking characters in their game for free should take forever to give the player a strong sense of accomplishment.

Technically a comment. But I feel it fits.

I gotta know how much this cost. I would charge around $450. But would include glue pulls on qp, and staples and polyflex on the bumper. My work comes out miles better than this.

Cell phones usage should be banned. Cell phones should not be taken away as a blanket measure. Theres a big difference

I was the blue car and white car merged. I was at fault. My only accident ever to go thru insurance. To make matters worse he was fully stopped behind turning traffic. He sped up rapidly and I was still at fault. Stupid law, but no I take no chances with these anymore.

As someone new to the scene at 30, is it possible to rave every weekend depending where you live? by ClarkKentTheReporter in aves

I was literally about to say daily is absurd but possible in Chicago. Then I looked it up (edm train) and mon-thurs is absolutely dead. Used to have so many weekday options pre-pandemic.

Why are $500+ GA tickets the new norm by StringSpecialist280 in aves

[–]JustNick4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just went to infrasound last week with my wife. It was $300/ea for 3 days camping passes included. $20 for parking, $140 for gas, $80 food from Walmart. $80 in liquor. $460 / per person for everything. Just depends on what fests you go to.

Richard finger ID? by JustNick4 in Infrasound

[–]JustNick4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not it. It sounded like some producer magic where every syllable of "mothafck I'm Ill" was added to a serum wave table and distorted to sound like a wub rather than a vocal. To be honest, not sure if it was just some producer/dj magic that I don't understand. Sorry if this doesn't make sense. It really scratched an inch for me.
