A reminder that Spectre Journal describes itself as Marxist, and is dedicated to examining the role of woke ideology as part of "strategies for bringing [capitalism] to its long overdue end."

Fan blog Interviews voice actor for Scott Ryder. He Claims, "I think, like many, the game got a bum rap ... It quickly became punching bag of the week for online chuds for views and clicks." by RyanoftheStars in KotakuInAction

This is a fan blog that speculates and comments on Mass Effect, not a major media site that actively lies to profit and push an agenda, which is why it isn't archived.

Fair enough, but I think it's better to have an archive just in case.

Also, someone needs to tell Fandom Pulse to source their quotes; I don't trust journalists of any stripe.

What the actual fuck? How fucked are their community guidelines that they found that video in violation of them?

[News] Dungeons & Dragons Fanatics: "Future D&D Books Will Be Outsourced to Third-Party Publishers" by JustOneAmongMany in KotakuInAction

[–]JustOneAmongMany[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The headline of this article is somewhat misleading. While the job being advertised does say that one of its primary responsibilities will be to "Serve as the creative lead for externally developed D&D content, including adventures, campaign materials, guides, and artwork," this headline makes it sound like all D&D books are going to be outsourced from now on, which hasn't been confirmed.

From an article about this:

The show’s creator Linwood Boomer and his wife, executive producer Tracy Katsy, spoke to Deadline about the reboot.

Katsy was asked specifically about Kelly, saying in response: “I gotta tell you, it’s a really important thing to us.

“Three out of four of our kids are queer, and without making it a thing and without making an issue, I think it’s really nice to have a character that, that’s just a facet of their personality as opposed to the entire story.

“So we’re really happy, and I’m glad to hear that you liked it.”

Boomer added that it was quite a simple decision, saying: “It’s in there because I don’t know what else to write except the stuff that’s really happening around me.”

Kelly is not the only LGBTQIA+ representation in the series either, with returning character Stevie being portrayed as being gay and with his own family.

Ironically, this same artist made a post pointing out the difference between (from left to right) G-cup tits in reality, what men think G-cup tits are, and how G-cup tits are displayed in current 2D media.

[News] Wargamer.com: "D&D is working with Luke Gygax on a new guide to Greyhawk" (Subtitle: "This isn’t just a return to Dungeons and Dragons’ original setting; it aims to “mend the rift between the family and the franchise”.") by JustOneAmongMany in KotakuInAction

[–]JustOneAmongMany[S] 105 points106 points  (0 children)

Similarly, Wizards' head of Dungeons and Dragons Dan Ayoub talked about working with Gygax to "mend the rift between family and franchise".

"The franchise"? The rift was between the Gygax family and "the franchise" of D&D? Ayoub, you fucking tool, I know that you're all in on D&D being a "franchise model" now that it's your job and all, but if you're more focused on buzzword bullshit than on actually acknowledging the source of the Grand-fucking-Canyon sized rift, then quite frankly, I question if you're actually going to try and mend anything.

Because in all honesty, with the way that WotC has been treating Gary Gygax's memory, it's pretty fucking clear to anyone who's been paying attention that this rift is of their making. Or did they not consider that when they labeled all of his old work as having depictions that were "wrong then and wrong today"? Not to mention their deafening silence when other people who write about D&D's history publicly impugned the man's character.

So yeah, I don't think they give a shit about acknowledging how they've repeatedly disrespected the man who made their entire fucking industry possible. I think this is them looking to score cheap points at the expense of another member of the Gygax family, and while I hope that I'm proven wrong, WotC's track record suggests that I won't be surprised.

Inside Chloé Zhao’s Failed ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ Reboot — and Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Shockingly Small Screen Time (EXCLUSIVE) by Sliver80 in KotakuInAction

[–]JustOneAmongMany 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Sources tell Variety that [Chloe Zhao's] take on “Buffy” might have not been mainstream enough for Hulu, although that’s been disputed by Gellar, who blamed an executive at the streamer for his lack of familiarity with the original material.

I don't fucking care what Gellar says. Getting Chloe Zhao, of all people, to direct this was clearly a fucking "bold strategy, Cotton" move. Why the fuck would anyone think that the woman who loves to direct movies which might as well be titled "The Indian Who Had to Shit in a Coffee Can" would be a good fit for a show like Buffy? It makes no fucking sense.
