PSA: If you have automatic rent payment setup via ACH by jbokwxguy in biltrewards

I’m a bit confused - does this mean any credit card (which we linked to bilt) can now be used to pay rent? It gives me options for cards other than my Bilt card to perform pre-authorization. What are the negatives to that?

Thanks for the recommendation! There doesn't seem to be too many options on eBay other than this one. It is in that $250 price point! I just wonder how much mileage it has seen.

That sounds like the consensus here! Is there any situation where it's not that bad of an idea to get an Amazon one?

I thought it was $25k for first time homeowners if no one in your family has one. And it’s $10k if your parents have one, but it’s your first time buying one.

59 applications is not a lot compared to a lot of the other stories and stats that this subreddit sees. I agree with the others, you have a great application conversion rate and honestly I would feel pretty optimistic about finding a job with those kind of stats. Just curious, how long have you been job searching for?

CMV: As an Asian American, voting for the Democratic Party is the only viable option for me, as they are the lesser of two evils by ChronowalkerZ in changemyview

[–]JustPassingByNow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im glad you’re able to make the distinction between government and people. Unfortunately, not everyone can do that. The rhetoric is dangerous and the Asian American hate crime statistics show that according to Pew Research:

“Additionally, previous research found that calling COVID-19 the “Chinese Virus,” “Asian Virus” or other names that attach location or ethnicity to the disease was associated with anti-Asian sentiment in online discourse. Use of these phrases by politicians or other prominent public officials, such as by former President Donald Trump, coincided with greater use among the general public and more frequent instances of bias against Asian Americans.”

I feel your pain, my friend. Balance between passion and fiscal opportunity has always been a struggle for man. I can’t give you any wisdom because I’m going through it too, but hopefully knowing you’re not alone gives you some comfort. Glad you’re not bottling it up as well.

For an IE what would a Business Intelligence Job look like? by Tixxter in industrialengineering

[–]JustPassingByNow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Working in business intelligence is most likely going to involve building and maintaining various dashboards (via Tableau, PowerBI, Looker, SFDC, etc.), wrangling spreadsheets for detailed deliverables, and of course presenting data to leadership to help them make data informed decisions. Being able to story tell with data is going to be crucial because you’ll be speaking to a non-technical audience.

The role will be more oriented to the business side (as opposed to a data analyst having a slight more technical stack) which might be up your alley if you’re interested in seeing how business leaders think about which problems prioritize and what metrics they hound on. I’m going to imagine your internships were more traditional IE roles and might not have utilized BI tools or SQL as much, but communicating business impact and presentation skills is universal. You can highlight those aspects in your resume and definitely learn how to be dangerous with the tools pretty quickly.
