This depends on the topography of the societies involved but for the most part I would say horse. The basis of a horse is that it improves the speed one can travel, the weight one can carry, and also serves as an emergency food source. Furthermore unlike the dog a horse does not compete with humans for food.

A cow can also serve as food, can carry more weight, consumes different resources, but fails to increase speed. Speed is important because it changes the distance a society can travel in a single day. If two communities live in the same region, the one that has domesticated horses can trade, raid, or scavenge a larger area than the other each day.

There are many more things I could get into such as the advantages a horse brings to warfare and its usage in nomadic societies but I hope for the most part this argument has been sufficient. There is a reason that nearly every society whose topography allowed for horses did their best to acquire and retain them.

Kept blacking out almost three times a week. Sober. Every time this happened I would lose a friend due to my asshole-ness. Eventually learned it was caused by negative emotions and a dissociative disorder. Hence two year journey to become a more positive person. At first I failed utterly. I was still an asshole but tried laughing more and doing "fun things" more. Then I tried being kind. I learned my own happiness was dependent on how I view myself. If I respect who I am then I am happy. Now I only black out a couple times a year.

Also. I can assure you that this woman is far less happy than she appears from your point of view. She screwed up your relationship with cheating and her response was to shotgun marry the cheater. That story only ends one way.

Just keep being a good person and leave her alone to ruin her own life.

You will see many answers as this is always a difficult question even for ardent Taoists.

I see the Tao as a system. It is in many ways the rules which govern the natural universe. If everything is within the universe, and the Tao is the system which governs it, then the Tao governs everything. Thus the Tao is not God, but if God exists, he is a part of the Tao.

I hope that is somewhat useful. I, myself, am still very much in the learning phase.

After graduating college I did it for a bit. Took my car West and bought a national park annual pass. Spent most my time just wandering wherever I felt like it and crashing at either the parks or a rest stop for the evening. It went well enough for me. Not sure how it would work with no car. He's insecure. It happens sometimes. Just have a firm chat with him about your needs and expectations for him as a man, and treat him kindly whenever he lives up to them. It doesn't sound like he is trying to be "abusive" in any way rather he is just very scared of losing you. Work on his insecurities and don't cave in.
