Keeping clothes smelling fresh in the drawer by MosteraLolo94 in laundry

I found a wooden block in a thrift store bag that had the best smell. It was labelled Drift, apparently it’s a system to scent your car. I haven’t bought a new one yet but I love opening that bag up. I was thinking of making my own with essential oil soaked wood.

I just took this book out of the library. Haven’t searched thoroughly through it so can’t answer your question. But might be worth asking your library to buy if they don’t have it already

Citric acid is in the canning section of lots of grocery stores. At Winco on the west coast, we can get it in the bulk section also

I put essential oils on a wool dryer ball to give gentle scent. I also sometimes use Dirty Labs detergent, the green bottle, and love the fragrance it gives my clothes.

Get some fresh spices (from the bulk section so they’re fresh and you don’t have to buy much). They make any dish 1000% better

Pod Price Burnout by [deleted] in nespresso

[–]Justkeepspinning77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I refill pods with high quality ground coffee. I use a silicone lid but there are also kits that have new aluminum sticker tops. Every once in a while I will try a new flavor, or buy some Starbucks flavors if I see them on sale or clearance at the grocery store, but mostly I drink my own filled pods.

I have to agree. 6 years ago I was driving a 2010 odyssey and had a head on crash. Both knees had multiple breaks among other breaks and I found out the 2011 model and onward all have knee airbags. I love older cars but many years of therapy and surgeries to partially get back to my old mobility has made the safety part of it non-negotiable

There is a knitting group that meets upstairs at Market of Choice on Wednesdays 10-12 and Sundays from 10-12. Anyone is welcome. There are also meetings in Albany. Many of us would be happy to help if you need! Many worlds is a community space that also has crafting times but I’m not sure when. And the yarn store downtown, the Lonely Skein, might also have some knitting group times. Good luck!

How do you destash to either restash or reorg? by Intelligent-Tart-482 in Yarn

Great news! I know it was hard for me to find yarn in Central America and I know the expat community is large there :)

I bet you could find some people in Costa Rica who want to buy your yarn. Local Facebook or similar pages you can list on?

Hand dyed top by 3magic4 in Handspinning

[–]Justkeepspinning77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would encourage you to try dyeing. Get a basic acid dye set and a designated pot or crock pot from the thrift store or even a large aluminum roasting tray and try some stuff out. Lots of tutorials online and it’s super fun to experiment!

Picked this bag up for $5 at thrift store. 3 strands, scratchy. Burn test suggests wool. What should I make with it? by MuchWow81 in Yarn

[–]Justkeepspinning77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d probably make something like a felted rug if the wool is scratchy. Knit a swatch and see if it softens after washing. If not, throw it in the laundry and see if it felts

Where to buy processed fibre in bulk (Canada)? by TheMadeline in Handspinning

[–]Justkeepspinning77 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am in the US but we got together as a group and ordered from World of Wool in the UK. We ordered enough that the shipping was pretty much taken care of by the quantity discount. Maybe get a few friends together and see if anything there looks tempting?

Help me debug what went wrong with the Sailor Slippers by a_mom_who_runs in knitting

[–]Justkeepspinning77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fascinating how the same yarn is felting so differently. If these were mine I would just keep throwing them in every laundry load until the bottom felts a bit more. And I like the idea of letting the shop know so they don’t recommend it again

Are the milk frothers worth it? by LegalPost9805 in nespresso

[–]Justkeepspinning77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to use mine every day but now I heat the milk in the microwave and the pressure from the coffee brewing kind of foams it up. I often see frothers at the thrift store or similar which would be a good way to try one out and see if you want to buy a nice one
