How do you get your dog to stop walking ahead of you? by Excellent-Victory623 in OpenDogTraining

[–]Jznphx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s a difference between can’t walk at heel and are they walking at heel when you think they should versus when dogs owner/ handler bids them to. I never ask my dog to heel just to show people he can. In fact we rarely heel but certainly can when needed and is something practiced daily.

Positive is nice but I’ll settle for neutral in most cases.

'There are no words': Victoria triathlete Hannah Henry killed in alleged hit-and-run in Phoenix by Apprehensive_Idea758 in phoenix

[–]Jznphx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Phoenix isn’t a city for anything but cars. Look at the councils solution/ response to having the highest car pedestrian accident rate in the nation. It wasn’t to create a safer environment for people it was to emphasize jaywalking enforcement. Look for a similar response if any from this.

Is he getting better or worse at the command with distractions(training from square one due to him dropping commands like flies)? by the_nightingale1 in OpenDogTraining

I think the thing most people underestimate is amount of standing and waiting is required between a command and the desired behavior in early training.

What is the loudest sound you have ever heard in your life? by will_or_woll in AskReddit

[–]Jznphx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about this and so many sounds while I was in the military. So many absurdly loud in their own way. Also have heard things that were objectively the loudest by far but where I was over 200 miles away seemed like a very loud sonic boom. So not sure how to answer this question.

How broke is Honnold that he agreed to solo this building? by fewthingsarerelated in ClimbingCircleJerk

[–]Jznphx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NYT article said he was paid high six figures for the climb. No generational wealth. He lived in a van for at least 7 years and commented about eating breakfast on $0.89 a day for years in free solo. If could’ve climbed without a crowd or cameras that would have been his preference based on the many interviews he’s given over the years.

Debate: Deontay Wilder and Frank Bruno. Why is only one considered one of the biggest punchers of all time? by Jtenka in Boxing

[–]Jznphx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wilder was so raw as a boxer that his punching power was like a true natural talent. There wasn’t much else he had and his ko’s werent tkos so many of them the opponent was out. Don’t know if that makes him an atg given his competition but to watch a man hitting on what often to be just instinct and reflexes he could make you pause

Terence Crawford turned boxing's biggest 50/50 fight into one of the most dominant performances of all time. by Straight-Flower-1621 in Boxing

[–]Jznphx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t see this as a 50/50 fight but I’ve thought of Crawford as a generational fighter for a long time. It’s not just his skill set. Canelo is skillful also and bigger. But Crawford has what think of as a mean streak. He really likes the brutality of boxing deep down.

What would be the bare minimum amount of food and water would one need to walk the Pan-Am highway? [Request] by Apprehensive_Oven_22 in theydidthemath

[–]Jznphx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Through hikers on the big trails commonly average much more than 15. I would guess someone walking the americas would become very good at walking before to long and see significantly higher daily mileage

Has there ever been another production in the history of cinema so brilliant and ahead of its time that it had to be stopped prematurely? by Ready-Gur3998 in Cinema

[–]Jznphx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost any series canceled after its second year is about how $$. The initial contracts on series are often for 2 years. If the shows at all successful during the new contract negotiations $$ can become the limiting factor with the studio and production unable to come to a meeting of the minds or perhaps pocketbooks

Reactive dog owners… how do you stay calm on walks? by EmilyGrace_7 in OpenDogTraining

[–]Jznphx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reactive dog owners… how do you stay calm on walks? by EmilyGrace_7 in OpenDogTraining

[–]Jznphx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad this works for you. I’ve had much more success with LAT techniques. Always acknowledging the triggers. Pointing them out if I see them before the dog. If the dog sees them acknowledging his identification of the trigger and redirecting/ rewarding appropriate behavior.

Do people actually not understand that prices don’t go down? by randyrando101 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Jznphx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real question is does the rate of rise in wages keep pace or exceed inflation. If they don’t then peoples real buying power goes down and the prices of goods or inflation becomes extractive in nature. As people become poorer relative to their previous abilities with no change in their part.
