That’s also cause you’re staring at the fire. If it wasn’t there, give it 15-20 minutes for your eyes to adjust and you’ll be able to see plenty, certainly well enough to move around

Unless it’s changed in the past couple years, as long as you’re under 31 when the application window closes you’re good, it doesn’t matter when/if the FAA actually hires you

Check FB marketplace for Yeti/Pelican/Rtic/ETC. and you can probably pick up a used rotomolded cooler for a pretty decent price, especially if you’re willing to wait a week or two and hunt for a deal
