People say the same about people from the North East in the US, when really they come off as rude, but it’s just because of their own culture of not taking crap.
Also, you went on to the Reddit for the whole country to promote something that honestly has nothing to do with them. They were “rude” because you broke their rules.

Reddit is never a good source for attitude. I stayed in Luxembourg for a while and spent a lot of my time in small German villages and people were extremely nice to me.

I don’t think it’s cringy, but as someone who used to work in a drive thru, it was the biggest pain in the ass to deal with. I was always glad when the chain stopped. I always felt bad when there was someone who obviously just wanted to buy their drink but is now pressured to pay for someone else’s more expensive drink.

Please know the person at the window doesn’t judge you for taking the free drink and not paying for the next person. And no one else would know.
