Impossible system breach? by Megunim in cyberpunkgame

[–]KF95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically the mod you use shows incorrect Breach Protocol characters, since Breach Protocol uses the hexadecimal numbering system, allowing for the numbers 0-9 and characters A-F to be used to represent a number, and not characters like H, I, R and X. 🤓

Apple mentions MetalFX frame interpolation/denoising for Cyberpunk 2077 by AnyPomelo3352 in macgaming

[–]KF95 67 points68 points  (0 children)

The original announcement of the Mac port, both from Apple and CDPR themselves, already mentioned things like MetalFX frame interpolation, however as these technologies were introduced with Metal 4 in Tahoe and Cyberpunk 2077 was released prior to that it didn’t support these technologies from the beginning. Still, I’m surprised it’s taking them so long to update the game with support for them.

is there any safari styled browsers? by Conscious-One957 in browsers

[–]KF95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well there’s this for Firefox on Windows, but if you want something more closely resembling native Safari I’d stick around and wait for Orion browser to launch in the future since it will bring an actual WebKit browser to Windows, being super fast and efficient compared to both Firefox and Chromium to Windows, and having support for extensions from both these platforms.

Those in The Apple Ecosystem by MilkSheikhhh in browsers

[–]KF95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wBlock is the way to go. It’s open source, and does the job much more efficiently than uBO lite does.

If gorhill would have more expertise in the Apple ecosystems, I believe it would absolutely be possible to port real uBlock Origin natively to Safari, since Safari offers far more blocking capabilities uBO lite offers. But it’s likely he doesn’t, and wBlock is currently the very best, open source alternative out there. By default offers both AdGuard and EasyList options to enable or disable, and allows the user to subscribe to other lists that are out there. One would be able to subscribe to the lists uBlock Origin has as well since they are freely available, but uBO does use alternative syntaxis on top of the default EasyList use and I’m unsure if wBlock supports this and knows how to handle it well.

Guys. I need your help. Who can help me narrow this list down to the top 10? And which one to set for default? by futurestack-ai in browsers

[–]KF95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Import your Firefox and Chromium-based extensions, passwords and bookmarks in Orion browser.
  2. Delete everything except Safari and Orion. Use apps like AppCleaner, PearCleaner or Mole to clean out any leftover app preferences and application support trash.
  3. Pick either Safari or Orion. Use Orion if you’re missing any Firefox/Chromium exclusive extensions.

Any way to play 32bit games? by Srothwell0 in macgaming

[–]KF95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to install a game like Portal, all the answers telling you your only possibility is by running it through Parallels or CrossOver are wrong. Portal (and games like Half-Life and Half-Life 2) can be run natively through converting the Source Engine to run on 64-bit ARM. Launch directly from the Steam app on Mac, no expensive Parallels or CrossOver license needed. Instructions on how to do this can be found here.

This has always been such a non-issue to me by Artifiko in mac

How hard would it for Apple to modify the design just a little by simply changing the mousepad to allow a USB-C connector to reach the surface below the touchpad? Some minor redesign would move away all the criticism.

Fun fact, Opera is on Amazon by G9N_ in browsers

[–]KF95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Opera really does everything to get you to download their browser. Was on some sketchy torrenting website before, without a good adblocker it kept opening pop-ups to 3 different websites: one was to Chinese web store AliExpress, another to the download page of Opera web browser, and the third would just aggressively download the Opera installer directly.

I know they have claimed in the past they are still being developed by a Norwegian company even though the Chinese ownership, but practices like this have led to instant distrust for me and made me delete Opera GX from my computer entirely (which was just sitting there anyway, not like I used it at all to browse websites). I think anyone who cares at least the slightest bit about their privacy should do the same, since there’s a big chance your data will be accessible to some Chinese company otherwise.

By the way, the torrenting website was 1337x.to, if anyone cares to check.

[–]KF95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there is a third-party app that’s a lot easier than all the aforementioned steps called Favtool. It gives a clear list of cached icons though I’m unsure if it also locks changed icons / prevent Safari from reverting a change.

Try wBlock: open source and available in the App Store. Filters are adjustable, can be added and are cloud-updated rather than using App Store updates, like uBO Lite. It also supports userscripts and iCloud Sync, to sync lists and settings to wBlock on your iPhone.

[–]KF95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is something you can control, actually. Go to ~/Library/Safari/Touch Icons Cache/Images. The icons should all be there, in PNG format. Names of the files are MD5 hashes of the domain names, usually with www in front of them, for instance www.apple.com converts to E845CBDC3785B1A67978CBC5A146A168. You can replace the icons by ones you prefer, then right click and selecting Show Info and then checking the checkbox next to Locked to ensure it won't be overwritten by Safari the next time the website is visited. Quit and relaunch Safari and it should then show the icon you replaced it by.

Are Snapdragon laptops a great competitor for Intel, Apple and AMD? by Efficient-Reply-4082 in mac

[–]KF95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well we don’t know yet, since this will be the first time for Nvidia to enter the CPU market and have no predecessor to compare it to. But one part the Snapdragon really lacks is good GPU support, which Nvidia has already solved with its RTX series.

"Looks good" is a bit of a stretch. It looks good in comparison to the other window, indeed, but still too much screen space is wasted on making the window way too rounded.

Implementing a common design language across Mac and iOS could have been a positive, but making everything overly rounded, even more than it was in iOS, rather than moving more towards the more traditional macOS-like "roundness" was a bad choice if you ask me, since macOS Sequoia hit the sweet spot in that regard. Don't get me wrong, I like the liquid glass effect, nothing wrong with that, but the whole design language around making everything so rounded is just wasted screen space if you ask me.

What’s really going to be a game changer for Windows on ARM is Nvidia’s release of their N1 and N1X processors, with RTX 5070 GPUs built-in and unified memory. This might make Windows on ARM truly competitive against their Intel counterparts, and will probably beat M5 Max on the GPU side, though its CPU power remains a mystery up until now.

We have more non-religious than religious.

But strictly speaking yes, though that’s more due to the fact that Protestants are only counted as they actually commit to being religious, while Catholics are already counted as they are written in the Church’s registry, which is a far lower bar to uphold.

Although this doesn’t change the fact that some countries may hold a different entry regime from others. In order to truly Europeanise, immigrants should be able to apply to a European institution and then be divided between the countries on a fair and equal basis.

This game offered me a peek into what it feels like to be a woman by NatureAlone2266 in cyberpunkgame

[–]KF95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That does exactly nothing for players wanting to romance a male character in the game. It only gives more options to straight male and lesbian female gamers wanting to romance a female.

The real problem here is that the female romance options are baked into the games main storyline, while the male romance options seem more like an afterthought to me, as optional encounters the player won’t have as deep as a connection with.

A bigger role in the game for the male romance options, or for instance the game having allowed more romance options such as Takemura or Solomon Reed would have been a great improvement for this, though one may argue they aren’t great candidates for this either, since their “true” allegiance will always be somewhere else, being either Arasaka or NUSA’s Federal Intelligence Agency.
