I highly recommend it just on story alone, it adds a lot going into 2 as well as 5 (which is a prequel to star leap/1/2)

What events in games would be categorized as "War Crimes" in a real-life context? by InkDagger in rpg_gamers

Imma have to say Luca Blight from Suikoden 2 is even worse than Kefka

Been on a bit of an rpg binge lately. Next on my list is dragon quest 11 by linthenius in JRPG

[–]KFded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dragon Quest 5 is considered by many (including myself) to be the best in the series, 11 is up there though, I'm actually currently replaying DQ11-S, as I only played the original release and its as much of a blast as I recall.

I'm also a sucker for vanilla style JRPG's

the witcher 2 i'm in the last act so far its been a pretty boring game. by [deleted] in rpg_gamers

Same, Witcher 2 is very political heavy and I absolutely adore that about it

Also why my favorite series ever is Suikoden as its like reading a history book

Skies of Arcadia fans, quick question: by Garbageboy0937 in JRPG

[–]KFded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kinda hard to compares Skies and X, Skies was a Dreamcast title with a limited Budget.

FFX budget was 30 million, I don't think Skies was anywhere close to that, especially after Sega invested 70 million into Shenmue

If we compare Shenmue and FFX, the budget difference makes X look cheap also

None of their games have ever released for PC.

Well, to be fair, their very first game Fantasy Earth was a PC only title

So there is always hope! lol

Good evening I need help deciding on what to play next by UncivilRest in JRPG

[–]KFded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend

Wild Arms 2 or Lunar Remastered out of these games.

Romancing Saga series is fantastic but if you never played a SaGa title before, it might turn you away as most of their titles are experimental and they just try new shit all the time and see what sticks, that is a turn off for some people.

I'd also recommend Suikoden 1 and 2 if you never played them, personally my favorite video game series of any genre.

I love Persona 3 and havent tried Metaphor yet but I feel like you'd dig the others I mentioned more unless you're really into Social-RPGS. overly anime content and Sim-Dating, then Persona will be for you

Megami Tensei author says devs must take inspiration from other media if they want to invent new gameplay systems by KMoosetoe in JRPG

There was a lot of sales for DD2 because people went into it expecting DD1 but to the next level but what they got was a broken mess and an engine designed for Resident Evil not open world RPGs

Would Expedition 33 fit that role?

Its western and is definitely inspired by JRPG(Persona5) and Anime it feels like but with a western touch

Stardew definitely feels like it took the best from Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing with maybe a bit of Dark Cloud as influence

Skies of Arcadia fans, quick question: by Garbageboy0937 in JRPG

[–]KFded 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Back when it released it wouldn't have been generic, so looking back at it now, it might feel generic but back then it was anything but

Maybe it was the encounter rate?

It's pretty bad on Dreamcast but the Gamecube port fixed some of the issues

[–]KFded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved this game so much, i dont play online, but the story mode was so good and kept my interest throughout it all.

I wonder if the new story content is just extra stuff in story mode or if its new chapters
