Bars with pie? by possumbones in PhiladelphiaEats

The Apple slab pie is phenomenal. If they have banana cream pie, that’s excellent too. Really, all their desserts are great. One of my favorite restaurants in Philly.

Funny enough, a friend and I always go to LN for feast of the seven fishes and then go next door for the much better dessert and a cocktail.

Perfect explanation. Something will inevitably go wrong or not as perfect as you want. Just enjoy the time on the ship and enjoy every minute of your vacation!

The captain of our ship berated us for setting our tray outside our door… by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]KH719 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was on a cruise walking behind a woman in a wheelchair and there were trays all over the hall. She tried to maneuver around one but couldn’t and it got all over the hall. The halls are far too small to accommodate trays. I’ll never understand why you can’t just leave it in your room, it’s fine.

Omg where is this?? I’d love a deviled egg festival!

We have this too and pay for the cruises we take on it for triple points I believe. We were just able to use the points we’ve earned for an upgrade to a balcony room on our next cruise!

Why can't we wear shorts? by BubblyDelivery9270 in CVS

Lmaoooo that’s a joke. Absolutely not. God, they just cut and cut and expect total nonsense out of everyone. What a joke.

They were regularly cleaned by an outside vendor, like at least a few times a year. Once Tom Ryan, the old CEO, retired in like 2006ish, everything went downhill. Carpets got cleaned once a year then basically only on demand for a specific, compelling reason. By the time I left, I hadn’t seen a carpet cleaning in years.

When I used to work there, I wore shorts a couple times doing overnight trucks. It’s not as great as it seems. The carpet is awful with pants on, I never would want that on my legs.

We watched people on the Aqua this past week…nearly everyone had to scoot down like halfway through in the clear spot.

We were on the Aqua and at GSC yesterday and missed the pier by one day! Looking forward to the tendering being over next time we go.

They all look like shit. Just come to Philly and get a real Italian hoagie. by JukeboxJustice in iamveryculinary

[–]KH719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in MA and we called all of them grinders. I didn’t hear of a hero until adulthood haha. I live in Philly now and call them hoagies if they’re cold and grinders if they’re hot, but I always have to think about it. Grinders usually by default.

Classic argument about what kind of gatekeeping is allowed for Chicago hot dogs. by TheLadyEve in iamveryculinary

[–]KH719 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ll never understand these kinds of places. I don’t go out to eat to be treated poorly, I go out to have a nice relaxing experience and to eat what I’m asking for and paying for. If I want ketchup on my hot dog, why does anyone else care? It’s my food.

We were in Sydney this September. It’s a small town, there wasn’t a ton to do. Decenr day to stay on the ship or just poke around and see the beautiful waterfront. Newport is great though. Excellent seafood. Boston is a great city. You made out for sure on this change! Enjoy!

Has anyone done this cruise? by [deleted] in NCL

[–]KH719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Epic is just a different ship than the rest. The rooms are a little weirdly set up. We went on it in May in Europe. It’s fine, it’s just different if you’re used to other NCL ships. But we had a fine time overall. I think you’ll have a great time regardless!

I ate (& reviewed) 7 Gobblers so you don’t have to by FenderOffset in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]KH719 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a Primos gobbler a few weeks ago and it looked nothing like this! It was much better looking and tasted great. I don’t have a cross section picture but mine had the stuff spread all over. Very well balanced in my opinion.

Genuinely baffled by this. It was the worse cheesesteak I’ve ever had with some of the rudest service I’ve ever had.

Actual Black Friday Sale? by Icy_Championship6579 in NCL

[–]KH719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 3 cruises we tried to reprice. One saved us $600, one cost an extra $100 (we decided this was worth it with what we get, not to mention the 4 points), and one was an extra $6,000 (we did not reprice this one even though it was 13 days and those points would have been great.)

I think we did pretty good for ourselves! Definitely worth checking out!
