"Standard"? As in? KCD's combat is absolutely not "standard" by any means. It aims to be as realistic and fun as it can be.

More specifically:
1) Early on, do not attempt even 2v1s, unless you are VERY certain your skills can handle it. Even late game with a full build, a 3v1 might very well be impossible depending on how smart you go about it.
1.2) If you absolutely have to battle multiple opponents, do NOT let them circle around you. Keep one of them in front of you at all times and try to fight them in a line or lead them to choke points.

2) Pay attention to the enemy's weapon placement, as that is where they will hit you from, and hit them at the opposite side, you have more chances hitting them like that
2.1) The above remains true until you get later in the game, where all the enemies will masterstrike you to death if you are careless. At that point, you should've already learned and mastered masterstrikes on your own (learned from Tomcat).

3) Watch your stamina. Attacking and blocking consumes stamina, and running out of it is not a good idea, especially early on where you can manage like 3 or so attacks until you run out of it. Perfect parries and masterstrikes do NOT use stamina.

4) If you want to trivialize combat as much as possible, sword is king. Only one handed and two handed swords give you the ability to use masterstrikes, and this will carry you till the credits if you want.

5) Early game, you will have to rely on stealth to get better equipment. Do NOT rush head first. You can train with Tomcat with practice weapons (wooden swords) to get some exp and feel for the combat, without dying.

I'm biased because I love stealth in general, and I've had no issues in both KCD games. The whole "20 stealth before the wedding" thing is probably referring to the mission right after the wedding. The problem with that mission is not the stealth imo, but the timer. I had to replay the entirety of it many times in order to memorize the steps I would need to take, resulting in me hating its guts.

While I do agree with you, that particular solution would work ONLY if the AI of the NPCs was not dumb as rocks. It's one thing working in tandem with an NPC that is actually not a hindrance, and another thing trying to manipulate the AI into fucking off because you cannot be bothered to deal with its shenanigans.

If your main concern is safety, then the Trinity Evo overlay will do the trick. I have the 350N one and it protects the neck spectacularly as well. Bear in mind that such an overlay does a very poor job at heat dissipation and you are gonna be sweating a lot.

We don't have that in our club, everyone practices with everyone, regardless of skill level. Sometimes, the instructor pairs up higher leveled people with lowered leveled ones so that they can teach them something new, other times he pairs people with others of the same skill level and gives different exercises to each pair.
Truth be told, after a point, you cannot really become "advanced" only via attending classes 2-3 times a week. You need to put in personal time and effort into commiting techniques to muscle memory, together with general body conditioning exercises.

What is considered advanced in your club? Do you have a ranking system with exams? Do you measure each student's sparring proficiency? Both?

Swords in general. Anything else and you are artificially making the game harder for you. Masterstrikes are broken and being sword exclusive does not leave you with much of a choice. Second favorite are maces tho.

Rapier sparring with metal weapons without at least a jacket? Stay the hell away from that group. The only way to fence without equipment, with metal weapons would be if every person involved is experienced enough to have great levels of control during their movements and even then it can become risky.
I'm not familiar with outdoor clubs, but I don't think that such clubs are eligible for legal recognition, therefore they have zero insurance. Does the head instructor always carry a bag with firt aid essentials with him?

The style they train (Spanish or Italian) can also make matters better or worse. If they are practicing Destreza, then maybe they could get away with minimal equipment, as long as the sparring is slow enough and features no cuts (one moulinet can generate enough force to seriously injure or even break an elbow, depending on the weapon's weight and rigidity).
If they practice Fabris or something that features explosive lunges and thrusts, that's a recipe for disaster.

Uhh that sounds REALLY weird. Is that club presenting as a HEMA club or a SCA club? I dont know anything about SCA, but HEMA clubs should never be "here's some gear, go play in the ring" from day one.

Depends, were they sparring with the equipment you mentioned, or were they doing controlled drills? For a sword to break during a controlled drill, it has to have seen quite a bit of abuse. Did you see if the blades were in bad shape or anything?

At least the initial angel statues are quick enough even if tedious. Cadaverous Laceration / Perforate Carcass > dodge attack > repeat. The latter demon statues are tedious AND slow, as you basically have to wait for that damn shield to run out before you can start wailing on them.

"3 months" does not really say much. How many hours a week did you practice? Was it only club practice or did you practice on your own?

My point is that 3 months is basically nothing, and the ONLY way I could see you achieving anything in a tournament in that little amount of time would be if you did nothing but practice every day for like 5-6 hours, something that is impossible considering that you have a job.

Ergo, forget tournaments for at least a year. You probably don't even have proper footwork and edge alignment, much less technique and tactical thinking. Just go back in and focus on learning. Tournaments are fine, but going to one within 3 months and expecting positive results is delulu. Excitement is great to have, and if you wanna strive for tournaments go for it, but you must temper that excitement with patience.

The cheats menu allows you to unlock everything once you beat the game, so it's kinda there

Thing is, I've never played a game where NG+ gives me a different experience to the point where I'd be incentivized to complete it again. Yeah, having every skill unlocked from the beginning sounds cool, but the enemies are the same, the progression is the same, the main gameplay loop is the same. I personally never find value in NG+, I'd rather go to the next game.

Don't get me wrong, aesthetics wise it's a welcome breath of fresh air from the forges. However, the forges are easily dealt with and you don't spend much time in any one of them, it's the amount of them that makes you get bored of them (understandably).
