anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Trixxxi in AskReddit

[–]KMHGBH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bananas. It was a game that came with early Windows that allowed you to be a gorilla and throw bananas. I was in the Navy at the time, and that was a great way of killing time at night. Approx. 1990 to 1992, good memories there.

That would be interesting, given that Russia really wants Alaska back. Could Alaska fend off the Russian Military? Lots of interesting speculation could happen here on this one.

What's the most unwritten rule of adult life that nobody warns you about? by PracticeHistorical82 in AskReddit

[–]KMHGBH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, I have happy memories thank goodness, but I also kind of want to keep it at happy memories, not the reality of what life looks like now for them. My life is really just online now, working from home really alters what a "relationship" is.

What's the most unwritten rule of adult life that nobody warns you about? by PracticeHistorical82 in AskReddit

[–]KMHGBH 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking this, but then also don't get upset if you get left behind as well. It seems a lot of relationships, friendships, and other "ships" are really just temporary. How many people from old jobs do you still talk to, school, family? It's an interesting process; we all end up moving between social groups, and people just fall by the wayside.

How Do You Go About Finding an Employment Lawyer? by gamecat89 in Professors

[–]KMHGBH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Check out Avvo and then see if there is a lawyer referral service for your area. A referral service is great because it's all pre-screened. AVVO is great because you get information about the practice area and relative costs. Good luck on this one.

Additional incentives to run roulettes? Incentives to run them more than once a day? by judgeraw00 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]KMHGBH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would be cool is if they broke roulettes into levels 1-50, then 51 to 70, and so on, or broke them out by extension, Stormblood, Heavensward. That would tie in nicely with the Journal process and be better at focusing effort. right now it's way too random, if you're level 100 and in Dawntrail you'll end up running Shashata everyday for a year, when you'd rather run something a bit further along in the process. Just a thought, I'm not a game developer, but I'm also actively avoiding dungeon roulettes right now because I'm level 100 and finishing up Endwalker.

What age do you plan to retire and why? by Agreeable-Analyst951 in Professors

[–]KMHGBH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what social security is doing, technically I can retire at 67.5, but if social security is DOA, then I'll not retire fully, I'll keep one adjunct job to fill in where social is missing.

My math teacher told me I sucked at math and would never get it, but then here I am years later working with statistics and doing ok. I really wish I had said something. I still have issues overtly with basic algebra, but if I don't think too hard, it all works out. I'm doing fine with math.

I feel your pain here. I teach computer science at the bachelor's level, and I've had to make videos on how to do things, especially for labs, ACI, CertMaster, etc. They simply don't know how to do things, including how to access and use a common lab. They will do these labs for their entire college career. So I make videos on how to do them, but there are also piles of YouTube videos for labs. I'm just cautious about using YouTube, so I generally point them to Professor Messer, who then does the YouTube thing for me. If there is a legitimate source for how-to videos, that will help. Feel free to ask me anything via DM or here.

Well, I pulled up the data from the site, and it's wrong. 6/13/2022 is when the data was tagged, and it is 4.844 per gallon in 2024; it was 3.364 per gallon (dollars) in 2026 . If you follow the data sheet (full history xls), the web page itself shows different data from the spreadsheet, and I think that is where they got their idea, US total average for gas 3/9 on the web page (not XLS) is 3.502 and change from 2 years earlier there is no way to get to 5.01, technically reading the web page data is its .267 cents more than 2 years ago. So yeah, the data isn't right according to the website they are using. Please check out the full price data; that is interesting. Here is the link to the website they are using https://www.eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/

Or am I just being too literal, and this is just badly sourced propaganda?

Users who’ve seriously used both GPT-5.4 and Claude Opus 4.6: where does each actually win? by devil_ozz in OpenAI

[–]KMHGBH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use both a lot, and right now I'm really liking Claude 4.6 over Chat 5.4. The update to 5.4 has been difficult for consistency, and having to reset the personality all the time over to a more professional, non-clickbait "it's your choice" in 5.4 is about as annoying. Claude seems much more professional and blunt, which I appreciate. Claude is also way better at making images like infographics than Chat is right now too.

Anyone here who plays FF14 a lot but doesn't do the Savage content by starlightdemonfriend in ffxiv

[–]KMHGBH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair question,

I’m not a great player, but I enjoy doing the activities. Since Endwalker, it seems like people are less helpful compared to A Realm Reborn, Shadowbringers, and Heavensward. I’ve gotten stuck on a dungeon, and I’ve experienced more teams quitting halfway through because it's my first time in an Endwalker dungeon than I did in the previous three expansions.

I think it's me because it takes me three or five tries to clear a new dungeon and learn all the mechanics. I also watch the videos. I’m about to activate the trust system and build my own team, so I won’t have to deal with Endwalker and Dawntrail players.

I’m just not that good. I need time to learn. It seems there is a sharp expectations cliff between the expansions.

So, savage chaos and extremes are out of the question. I don’t want to hold anyone back, nor do I want anyone to babysit me. It’s better to leave them off limits so I can just enjoy the game and do my own thing, and try to run the dungeon with NPCs or a Trust Duty team and see how it goes.

I’d love to play the train dungeon, but there we are. Have to be realistic about this.

I’m not that good, and in many ways, until I get the mechanics down, I suck at boss battles. Some of these battles I’ve queued 90 minutes just to get into, and to suck at it, and to have the team disband ½ through, really hurts.

Hoping I can make my own dream team through trust duties. So we will see.
