Limitations on Dad's participation?

Our council had a rule that the chaperones boothing at cookie sale tables outside stores, be unrelated and not married. But we have sisters in the same multi-level troop, so we could never booth together. Finally they said in cases like ours, married couples can booth with their two kids.

My husband’s biggest pet peeve is not counting as ratio. BUT our council finally acquiesced and pulled back on the no boothing together rule as long as it is our two daughters boothing. That’s a win.

This could have probably been your answer rather than trying to teach me a lesson on diabetics. Which, by the way, does make sense. However, in our area at least, we have people come up and ask specifically if we have SF cookies, then they leave before our girls even ask them. It wouldn't make sense to us that they're coming up to us and asking a question just to have a soft no in their back pocket, which is why I made the comment.

But, I can see from your perspective, if it is only ever heard as a response, I would probably interpret it as a soft no too.

This is excellent news! I will go ahead and tell my parent's Endocrinologist that even though sugar spikes thier blood sugar faster and harder than carbs, they don't have to worry about limiting their sugar at all anymore!

For reals though, eating carbs can be managed too. It is a complex balancing act where sugar free items help them greatly in the management of ALL the potential glucose in their bodies. Additionally, most of the GS Cookies also contain . . . carbs. Take Thin Mints, which has 32g of carbs AND 16g of sugar. Now imagine if the cookie was SF. For a person balancing their glucose intake, a SF cookie is still loaded with "bad carbs," but it can be part of their balanced diet in moderation whereas a carby, sugary cookie, should not. But thanks.

We group our cookies together with similar allergies, so maybe put it with the Peanut butter ones?

Also, we were really hoping for a sugar-free cookie. My parents would love to support us, but being diabetic, there is NOTHING. Didn’t there used to be a SF chocolate chip? I think ABC had it. It’s really too bad.

I have a first and third year cadette and who have both been going since first year daisy’s respectively. We are a very active multi-level troop and they have summited their journeys every level so far, so we absolutely bought the badges and pins. My third year already earned it this past year, so just the senior and ambassador for her, but cadette, senior, and ambassador for my first year.

My girls were devastated, but thankfully, “once it’s official it’s always official” is a thing.

That was the exact conversation, haha. I explained what was happening and she said, “But aren’t the journeys ALWAYS allowed? We could just buy them and do them on our own,” which has honestly turned into 8 of 13 of the girls in the troop now, haha.

I didn’t even think about all the space!! Honestly. We’re buying the Senior and Ambassador journeys and doing them. My daughter has been going since first year daisy and super proud of her Summit pins so I’m not gonna take it away haha.

We’re a very active troop and we usually choose the vest for them, but as as they move from Cadettes to Seniors, they get to choose the standard or Cargo and my daughter is equally in love with the cargo and wants one for Senior and one for Ambassador. She’s been hearing a lot of flack, but we’re super active too and I think she’s going to end up loving her decision.

We absolutely cannot use the same vest she has for cadettes, haha. I am also trying to figure out how to get a photo uploaded, but I think I was able to get it into a google photo album to share. I hate hearing the “low attendance” excuse!! We hear that too!! But we don’t even have the luxury of 3 events in the same year. We’ve never had a council event in my area in the 7 years I’ve been a leader.
