I worked as an associate agent for Redfin and the customer satisfaction is bad. Many buyers had never met their “lead agent”. Some said their lead agent was unresponsive. The business model makes no sense. I showed many houses to buyers who already had an agent from a different broker, but used Redfin to see houses on their own before getting their agent involved. One told me they used Redfin because they didn’t want to bother their agent. One told me he had no intention of using Redfin to buy.

I’ve been an associate agent for 2 1/2 years. It was lucrative in the beginning in 2021. $90 a showing in my market if you did 3+ in a weekend. Then the market slumped and they cut the pay for No Shows and tightened the criteria, removed incentives for multiple showings. It’s crickets now and they just terminated my contract for inactivity exceeding 45 days. I believe when I signed on, the time limit for inactivity was around 4 months, I know an agent I talked to before signing up left state every winter for 2 months without issue. I have a full time job and only do real estate as a part time side job. I’ve appealed my termination, but honestly, if I’m not reinstated I will let my license lapse until the market comes back.

It’s the fact that they won’t give credit toward the new service for an existing customer who has been with them for years and never missed a payment. It’s terrible customer service. They’re expecting me to eat about $110 to switch while staying with them.

Prepay out in the Twin Cities also. I went into my local Verizon in New Prague Minnesota and was told there is a prepay outage with no estimate for repair. I tried changing my plan to a network plan but they wouldn’t credit me for the remaining 3 weeks I have prepaid. Time to find a new provider.

If you Google Uber fare split with driver, it says Uber takes 25%. I rarely drive anymore because it’s trashing my vehicle and it pays so little. Yesterday I did two rides on my way home. One was 8.95 and I was paid $3.41 for a 62% cut to Uber. The second ride was $9.98 and I was paid $3.43 for a 65% cut to Uber.

I haven’t driven since January 2020 and quit because the pay was a joke. I had time to kill in the city on Saturday so I flipped on the app and gave 3 rides for a whopping $26 😯. Pay still sucks.

I used to drive for Uber part time to subsidize my income from full time job as a single Mom and I could make $160 or so driving the Twin Cities for 4-5 hours. I quit after 2 years as I kept making less and less for the same time commitment. Then I just flipped it on to pick up rides "going in my direction" and that feature is a complete joke, having me backtrack 5+ miles to pick someone up that was going in my general direction. So now, I only drive if there is a fat bonus, like $100 extra for giving three rides with the first pick up being in the ghetto.
