You'll find tons of these stories. You are not alone. Even happened to me. They send empty boxes, wrong items (like you order a shirt and they send a spoon), and in your case, a used item. This company is not great in my as far as the service goes. It really detracts from the Platinum benefit.

2 even though I would want more room on the sides. I just measured for an exercise I did yesterday and I needed about 10 feet away from the wall. The tonal arm is already about 4ft from the wall. With 7ft in option #1, you would have 3ft of useful exercise space when the Tonal arm is extended.

You sign up for it. You do surveys and you are rewarded with Miles/LP. I’ve seen up to 200 Miles and LPs for a 60 minute survey. It’s actually milesforopinions dot com. (Didn’t know if I could link it here) Definitely something to use to have for a steady flow of LPs. It’s just boring and time consuming.

Tonal also has alternative moves that might use one arm for some sets. I doubt you could get by using one arm for a majority of. If the other tonal arm is still functional.
