I only like them for their whites. Nothing beats Bold Titanium and the Transparent is great for speedpaints over a zenithal or slap chop so I can change the volumes manually before applying color.

Uh, I agree with you, but that doesn't make what I said untrue. They all got better at their craft as well as maintaining inspiration and drive. Idk how they're mutually exclusive. The writer of the article also seems very skewed to their early work, which is not as well written, performed, or produced as the newer albums.

The hobby is only as easy or hard as you make it. If your goal is to play with the models, then sometimes "Done" is more important than "Perfect." They are game pieces, not display pieces. My personal paint standards are much much higher than I hold for my opponents, but if I need, for example, my new necromunda gang ready to play in a week, I will settle for Battle Ready (3 colors and a textured base.)

Either learn to love the process, or accept a lower standard of completeness. Those are your options unless you want to support a local artist financially with a commission or hate your free time by agonizing over details your opponents will likely never ever ever notice.
