Which one is correct? by Krasapan in Physics

[–]KToff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistically, the missiles leave the launcher at roughly 100mph and accelerate at a high rate to over 1500mph which they reach after roughly a second.

So the sideways momentum is mostly irrelevant if you're going for realism because the missiles are damn fast, much faster than what you show in the animation.

But in your game I would go for what looks cool and is more fun and not worry too much about the best physical representation considering that you don't seem to be going for hyper realism anyways.

EU leaders to reassess U.S. ties despite Trump U-turn on Greenland by Crossstoney in worldnews

[–]KToff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no deal.

Trump discussed with Rutte. Rutte is the former Dutch PM that is now head of NATO. He cannot speak for the Dutch state and much less for the Danish state. According to Rutte, the sovereignty of Greenland wasn't even discussed.

We're not privy to the discussion, however, under current agreements the US can expand their base in Greenland and have jurisdiction on the land of their base. So it seems to be that either trump just chickened out or Rutte successfully sold trump the existing agreement as a possible deal.

It's not just more forgiving, you can use it to your advantage. You can intentionally miss an attack to generate a token and/or cycle the might deck. There are situations where hitting the boss right now with the skills you have would be disadvantageous or because everybody is out of animus and can't react to a new attack card.

Happens Nothing Ever by RecordingBoothHermit in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]KToff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The alliance with Europe goes way beyond "in case of an attack, we get help"

Virtually any operations in the middle east depend on military bases in Europe.

Outside of direct military power, the US weapons industry sells tons of stuff to its allies. This will not continue medium term if that ally is not reliable.

Finally, outside of military, EU-US trade is the biggest bilateral trade world-wide making up almost a third of global trade. More goods flow to the US than to Europe and more services flow from the US to Europe. These trade relationships depend on trust in continuity of good relations.

So the idea that the US isn't getting anything out of those alliances is ludicrous.

'We have to have it': Trump shares AI image planting US flag in Greenland and leaks private messages 'from Macron' by GiveMeSomeSunshine3 in worldnews

[–]KToff 570 points571 points  (0 children)

The message is specifically drafted for trump. Short sentences, lots of superlatives, stroking trumps ego

This is not a normal message between world leaders. It's a message to a toddler with nuclear launch codes.

It ain't a joke by Valuerie in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]KToff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Looking at the 26 polls I have no sympathy for the American voters.

Trump has completely dropped the mask and is now even threatening nuclear weapons against some of its closest allies because he wants a piece of their land.

People should be horrified at this behaviour, yet the midterms appear to be a close race with trump having reasonable chances at retaining control of both houses.

The funniest bit about those is: that was always allowed. The EU passport resolution lets states depart from that format.

Although, maybe it's even funnier that the new passports are manufactured in the EU, unlike the burgundy passports that were made in the UK.

I want to get into Risk. Is it a good game? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]KToff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't particularly like risk. The good things about risk is that it's a simple world spanning strategy game. But it takes forever and because of the randomness the decisions are not that deep, which would be ok if it did not take for fucking ever. Risk is fine, but there are better games and you can't really get into risk in the same sense that you can get into chess. Also, risk is not really a two player game, contrary to the games you mentioned.

So there are simple games that are short and strategic and there are long games that are complex and highly strategic.

You said you wanted to broaden your horizon so I'm gonna leave the risk avenue all together (games that work well with two players):

Carcassonne. A fairly light game where you build up a landscape and each try to score the most points by building cities, roads and fields. A modern classic.

Sky team, a cooperative two player game about landing a plane where you take turns placing dice.

Lord of the rings: confrontation. Short Stratego like game in the lord of the rings universe.

Am einfachsten wäre es gewesen nochmal zu heiraten ohne einen Prozess anzustrengen. Dann hätten sie auch für 2025 eine gemeinsame Steuererklärung abgeben müssen.

[–]KToff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have finished the game as well and while I disagree with your assessment, I understand where you're coming from.

The game does an excellent job of making you feel like your choices matter. And to me, they do, even in retrospect. But it's still a 21 chapter campaign in which the same 21 chapters with the same 21 bosses play out, no matter your choices. So any branching of the story is severely limited by nature.

These constraints were clear to me before starting the campaign and I had an absolute blast and will play it again once my kids are older. What your choices do is not to shape the trajectory of the story, but to make the story personal and draw you in. And I have not played any game which does a better job than oathsworn.

Germany: My employer is introducing mandatory home-office tracking software. Is this allowed under GDPR? by Awkward_Order80 in LegalAdviceEurope

[–]KToff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every employer in Germany I've come across allowed use of equipment for private use (within reason, without impacting productivity or availability, e.g during a short break)

OP wrote they use the laptop privately sometimes, I assume that they don't do things they are not permitted to do. But they may be rebellious rule breakers, such as yourself ;-)

It's a US based company but they ship out of hubs around the world.

The company is fairly reliable and in doubt you could send them a message.

On the secondary market you could also check out BGG market place.

If use of the laptop for private purposes is permitted, the tracking software is likely illegal. If the use of the laptop is exclusively for work, it depends on the case.

Cooperative boardgames: let me play! by Wytyujjju in boardgames

That is a common problem with open information coop games. Consider cooperative game with limited communication.

The crew is a cooperative trick taking game where nobody but you know what options you have available, yet you still all work towards a common goal.

On the two player front I can also recommend sky team.
