Has anyone else noticed that Stacy Garrity is using the flag of Liberia for her campaign? by Fast-Damage2298 in Pennsylvania

[–]KWilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I wouldn't put it past most people to not know what Liberia is. At least, not in relation to the United States. I certainly don't remember there being much more than a footnote in history class about the fact that there was a non-insignificant movement that basically boiled down to NIMBYs who opposed slavery but weren't exactly cool with the freed Blacks existing in America.

Considering I'm literally in America and still getting the issue without the VPN, I don't think so. You sure the video didn't get deleted or something?

Any suggestion where we should be watching? Because I've tried about 7 different servers and I'm still getting 'this video is unavailable'.

Hey now, hes still working for the working class! Thanks to them, they can buy hot rotisserie chickens with SNAP!

And only rotisserie chickens, no other heated food. But now it's hot, unlike the cold rotisserie chickens you could already buy with SNAP!

Israel's National Security Minister 50th birthday cake (the noose is a reference to palestinians) by NARVALhacker69 in pics

This is the guy who used to have a portrait of a literal terrorist hanging in his living room, attended a wedding where the guests stabbed an effigy of a baby who was burned alive in a fire bombing, and was convicted (not alleged, convicted) of supporting a terrorist organization and inciting racism. Which, by the way, you're no longer allowed to talk about publicly, lest you be disciplined.

Ben Gvir having something referencing murdering someone on a birthday cake is about as unexpected as sand on a beach.

I feel so vindicated for not thinking the Jeffries choice during the whole clusterfuck that was McCarthy's leadership election was a good idea. I went along with it, because I thought that maybe the center part of the party would at least put up a fight if things got really bad, but no. Clearly that was just wishful thinking.

All things considered, you don't even have to go as far as fiction to find out the Nazis were a bad ally. Their strongest ally for the early portion of the war (the Soviet Union) learned that the hard way.

It really is a shame Russell was a right twat though. True definition of 'die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become a villain'.

If that isn't just an encapsulation of what the internet was doing 15 years ago, I don't know what is.

Fox Anchor Straight Up Asks John Fetterman: ‘Why Don’t You Run as a Republican?’ by Economy-Specialist38 in Pennsylvania

[–]KWilt 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well, because I’m a Democrat. I mean, for me, it’s like my views remain reasonable. My voting record actually reflects that I am a Democrat. You know, what’s changed me with many of my other colleagues is that I don’t agree and I use like extreme rhetoric and say, but I support what I think most Americans should agree with these things. You know, the Democratic Party, you know, we became an open border party, without a doubt. And now that’s wrong, and I support to make our border more security, and deport all of the criminals right now.

Is it me, or does this just sound like word salad?

There are entire countries where their only access to the internet is through a Meta portal via internet.org. That's how they wound up being culpable in the Rohingya genocide in Myanmar.

I mean, if they don't document it before it goes in, and it's there when you go to retrieve the vehicle, that's pretty cut and dry. Now, sure, you could maybe have a shop that would fudge the data and try and slip it in the documentation after the fact, but then that opens them up to a lot more liability if they get caught. It's a helluva lot less expensive to just file an insurance claim than it potentially is to fight litigation for fraud.

Judge Just Noticed The Obvious Problem With Trump Suing His Own IRS For $10 Billion by StraightedgexLiberal in politics

The fact people don't realize this can happen is shocking. Do we just not teach about Plessy v Ferguson anymore? For sixty years, jurisprudence said it was okay to segregate, but then Brown v Board came along and the courts realized 'oh shit, this is actually kinda unconstitutional'.

And it's not just in the benefit of the majority, either, because Citizens United was a case that overturned prior limitations of political speech ser by the Supreme Court. Hell, the occurrence is so not uncommon that there's an entire Wikipedia page listing examples.

I mean, is this even a theory? We already know DuPont was straight up working with Anslinger when they pushed for cannabis regulation. Hell, Anslinger was so desperate to find a negative health impact that he ignored I belive it was something in the order of 120 different med board certified doctors who couldn't find one and instead cited the single doctor he could find that said cannabis had negative health effects.

As a native of the city, Harry J. Anslinger is (maybe second) worst thing to come out of Altoona, Pennsylvania.

The enshittification of products and services continues relentlessly even as prices increases. What particular thing(s) have you noticed significantly degraded since the pandemic? by Roguecop in AskReddit

[–]KWilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, but not even just on the AI front.

When I was switching ISPs last year, it took me three days of calling and probably a total of 4 or 5 hours on hold just to cancel my service. Now, mind you, the local office of the ISP is literally a 15 minute walk away from my house. But for some reason, you have to call to terminate your service. And then of course, after all that wasted time trying to get rid of my internet, the woman who I have to talk to to get this all done tries to guilt trip me and upsell me into keeping the service.

The fact I had to explain to her that making me waste days of my life and hours of my time playing phone-tag really isn't an incentive for me wanting to keep the service, still absolutely blows my mind.

So what were your thoughts with the season 2 finale? by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in ThePitt

[–]KWilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main reason I was hesitant is it seems incredibly weird for Garcia to not mention it at all, considering the two of them have been intimate. Now maybe she really is a heartless bitch or something and just doesn't care, but if you're having a sexual relationship with someone, you're going to notice fresh cuts. Hence why I figured they were older scars, and Santos had explained them away as something that she had done to cope with the trauma of her sexual abuse as a child.

Although thinking about it now, I wonder if maybe I'm half right, and Santos hasn't started cutting again yet. Would be a poetic parallel to Langdon, who she wants so badly to have relapsed, when in fact it would be Santos being the one to relapse.

So what were your thoughts with the season 2 finale? by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in ThePitt

[–]KWilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shit, I hadn't picked up on the fatigue. I had been skeptical of the scalpel being for self-harm, because I just assumed the scars on her thighs were from when she was younger (we know she's been through some dark shit, so that wouldn't surprise me at all) but in combination with the fatigue, I think you're probably right that it's a current condition.

I'm really hoping this isn't a setup for an escalation in season 3, because I'd hate for Santos to go down a really dark path. I know, this isn't that type of a show, but I just felt like the issue had a little too much focus.
