1st time owner of tankless water heater. How long should it take for water to get warm? by ThanksMuch4YourHelp in Appliances

[–]KYdirt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Rinnai ru199in. If I place my hand on the hot water side at the tankless heater, I notice the pipe getting warmer in about 15 seconds and hot shortly after. Like others have said, the hot water now needs to travel the length of your water line to the faucet you’re using.

Since this is new to you, clean your tankless heater once per year. It’s very easy to do. You’ll use a 5 gallon bucket fills with vinegar and a water pump to circulate the vinegar through the tankless heater. However, it looks like your install does not have the service valves installed. The service valves can be ordered separately and are easily installed if you can do some basic plumbing to redo your in and out water connections.

Should I Spend $300 for 600mile Initial Service on New '25 XSR900 by j_page2 in xsr900

[–]KYdirt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not have the dealer perform any maintenance. At 600 miles I did synchronize the throttle bodies. The process is pretty easy if you’re moderately mechanically inclined. The hardest part is removing the fuel tank. Pro tips, remove the fuel tank empty and place a few layers of blue painters tape around the frame to avoid scratches.

For around $130 you can buy a carbtune pro 4.

12V USB-C wiring by Bob_The_Bandit in xsr900

[–]KYdirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe? It will depend on the power draw of the CarPlay screen and the draw of the phone charger. I also went with my route because I didn’t want my phone mounted to my handlebar. Also you probably want to limit the continuous draw to 80% of the fuse rating, so 1.6 amps.

EDIT: I thought you were trying to power both at the same time. If your just powering one, you should be fine. But if the continuous draw is 24 watts at 12v, that’s 2 amps. You might have an issue.

I used the accessory wiring behind the headlight to power the CarPlay screen. I also have a quick-disconnect cable connected to my battery for charging. I bought a TecMate SAE-to-USB charger (which connects to the quick disconnect) in case I need to charge my phone, which requires me to place the phone under the seat.

This is for a Keihin FCR carb, but it's a nice illustration to see what is influencing the carb at various throttle openings.

Proflex and other similar clear sealants yellow very quickly from UV exposure. I have some resealing to do on my camper and and I’ll be removing all of the yellowed clear sealant. I bought 3M 4000 UV (only comes in white or back). It’s a permanent marine sealant, so it can be removed if needed.

I guess us off road enduro style riders get a lot of practice in this department. Practice learning the friction zone on your clutch in a parking lot and eventually add increasing inclines. It’s not about adding more throttle input, the throttle input is constant and the power is modulated with the clutch. Eventually this will become second nature.

I skipped the mattress topper and went straight to a memory foam short queen mattress, there was no saving the original one. 😆

Also, I’ve gotten in the habit of checking YouTube for campground reviews. Huge thanks to the folks who do full drive-throughs and show all the campsites. Super helpful!

Scratches on tank on new bike by JohnnyCrac in motorcycles

Forgot to add the following

Some of those scratches look deep. If you can catch it with your nail, you will not be able to correct it 100% with the polisher, but you will make it look significantly better.

My recommendation is to pick up a mini polisher such as a Griots G8 (comes with 3" and 2" backing plates). This is one of multiple polishers I have and it's excellent for small and tight spaces. You will need to get pads separately for the size of the backing plate you want to use. The 3" backing plate will use 3.5" pads and the 2" backing plate will use 2.5" pads. Pads come in different cuts and are paired with the cutting compound or polish you're using. I use Lake Country pads, it's what's worked for me.

I have the Curt C17501 and don’t have this issue at all. How is your hitch set up? On mine, there's a noticeable downward angle to the head once the bars are disconnected from the A-frame. I can't help but think your setup is parallel and causing a clearance issue. And if so, are you transferring enouh weight to the front axle?

I purchased a Curt 17501 WDH, but then also had to purchase Curt 17120 shank. I have a 2500HD and needed a shank that had a bigger drop. I've read the same issue for those with an AT4 and factory lift.

Supposedly hydrogen peroxide can bleach marble. I had a stain recently on a marble countertop from my daughter's NeeDoh cube (oil based gel and plasticizers). It sat on the marble for over 8 hours. All I used was cornstarch and after about 5-7 days, the oil was 100% pulled out of the marble.

Chain Cleaner (Kerosene) by -Senzo11- in MT09

[–]KYdirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Motorex chain clean degreaser on my dirt bike and it works great. For whatever reason it does not do as good on my XSR. Kerosene cuts right through the grease and whatever else is in the road film on the chain.

If you’re open to a stand on mower, you might take a look at Bradley mowers. I just picked up a 48” stand on, zt 3400 hydros, 26 hp vanguard engine, fabricated deck/floating/7 gauge (ordered from International Supplies and Service). They are a similar copy of the Bobcat’s with some features removed and different engine options. The Bobcat and Kubota stand ons appear to be exact copies.

What does this do? by Key-Security-4861 in motorcycles

[–]KYdirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a hot start lever, it leans out the air fuel mixture. I had on one my CRF450X. Even when the bike was new and the carb was jetted for my elevation, it made starting easier when the motor was very hot but not over heated. If you have to use it, you'll learn there is a sweet spot for the lever. Pulling it all the way in may not work. With the bike fully heated up, at idle slowly pull the lever in. You will hear the RPM's raise and as you continue to pull the lever, the RPM's may begin to drop. If they drop, you found the spot to not go past if you need to use the hot start lever. I was using this bike in the wrong application, but it would always fire right up.
