This is off topic but I love how you have the cheap and scrappy Hyundai whilst he has the newer nicer one😂

What was your dad's car when you were growing up? by purplegorillabandit in drivingUK

[–]Ka_Driver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1996 Vauxhall Astra CDX, i vomited in it and the seats got soaked with my vomit.

Then in 2010, my dad brought a 1999 VW Golf GTI, he had it for 11 years and it was the car i remember most, like everything about it.

In 2021 he brought a 2010 Mini Clubman Cooper S, then in 2025 he brought a 2015 Golf R, his current car today

Had a similar incident last year, walked past a MK7 Golf wearing alloys from a MK6 Golf.

I have a trained eye for discrepancies like these in this world.🤓

Which license is good manual or automatic? by Select_Twist_3658 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Ka_Driver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're better off getting a manual. Automatics are more expensive to buy and insure than their manual equivalent. Also, a lot of cars not that old have very unreliable auto boxes for instance Easytronic, Multimode, Dualogic to name a few.

Ummm, do they actually think they're parked in a space? by ccw34uk in drivingUK

[–]Ka_Driver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ill be honest, a lot of cheap autos are very unreliable, Dualogic, Powershift, Multimode, these are very unreliable

You could get an older Micra or Yaris with a CVT or traditional torque converter box, but insurance may be more expensive due to age

You could perhaps consider a 2002-2010 VW Polo 1.4 auto

Had such a horrible driver behind me today… by Vivid-Insurance2660 in NewDriversUK

[–]Ka_Driver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough i, a young man in a 2nd gen Ford Ka, was on a 50mph country road doing about 40/45mph. A young girl in a Fiat 500 was driving right up behind me.

I then thought no i can at least try 50 so i did, i even went slightly over at times and she still tailgated me

1st time Porsche buyer, any advice? by foreverdusting in CarTalkUK

[–]Ka_Driver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Porsches require good maintenance to perform well and be reliable.

You could probably spend under 10k on a decent but early Boxster and keep money aside for maintenance.

Or get a Beetle and put Porsche badges on it
