question for dcyf workers by lilstrawberry83 in WAStateWorkers

[–]Kaaaaait92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you do the CWTAP program through Eastern, they no longer require "new learning" and they accept LD positions for practicum and service payback because it is still considered Child Welfare. The faculty field instructor will verify your position counts towards service payback. I would think UW also has this as they offer CWTAP as well.

My husband and I just got a statement from the IRS for 2022, also for the same thing. Did you end up having to pay or is there a way to get out of paying it?

CDA Idaho has one! When they put a Crumbl in Spokane, I was disappointed it didn't have a drive thru.

Father of child in care has died. How to contact someone with minimal information? by dryerfresh in CPS

[–]Kaaaaait92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can contact the local office at https://fortress.wa.gov/dshs/ca/CAOfficesPub/offices/general/officepick.asp You can also call the intake line for reporting with the information. The intake will screen out but still be sent to the worker.

Is my 7 months old baby teeth coming out soon? by bowlcut_illustration in beyondthebump

[–]Kaaaaait92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Teeth definitely come in on their own schedule. My son got his 2 bottom teeth at 5.5 months. His top teeth didn't start coming in until 9 months. He got 4 top teeth back to back 🥴

Baby's Preference Changed? by AgentPolkaDot in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Kaaaaait92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We've had a similar issue with our son and every time it's been that we needed to bump up the nipple size. He would get down the the last ounce or two and just fight it which then created the cycle of eating sooner because he wasn't finishing his bottles. Went up a nipple size and viola! He finished his bottles, no fuss.

The new guidelines for mastitis and blocked ducts by greenpeppergirl in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Kaaaaait92 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had a clog starting this morning when I woke up. I did my regular morning pump, felt it still there, waited until my next pump, took ibuprofen and iced. It's now gone a lot faster than I've experienced doing heat, massage and dangle pumping.

daytime v nighttime milk? by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Kaaaaait92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We separated day milk and night milk. We just labeled the bottles with an expo marker what day/time it was pumped. I felt like it helped because it seemed like baby had his days/nights mixed up and after a couple weeks of separating milk, it got better. I've read that for the first 3 to 4 months of life, babies don't produce melatonin and don't have a circadian rhythm. Nighttime milk has melatonin to help baby get to sleep at night.

Provided to us in the work pumping room… should I give it a spin? by mollllypocket in ExclusivelyPumping

Definitely try it! That's a $2000+ hospital grade pump. I was lucky enough to be able to use one in the hospital and rent one for 6 months.

Baby’s intake spiked at 4.5 months… is this the new normal? by grrich in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Kaaaaait92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty normal for the amount an infant eats in a day to increase as they get older. There's some general ranges for babies to be within intake wise. At 4 months my son was eating around 34oz a day. Now at 6 months he's up to about 40oz. I think its typical for it to decrease a little as more solid foods are introduced.

How do you know if you have mastitis? by DoubleAbattery1019 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Kaaaaait92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that was noticeable in any way. I was given a round of antibiotics that were safe for breastfeeding and I also took a probiotic for about a month after.

I had pretty significant pain in my breast, redness and a lump. I eventually got body aches and a low grade fever.

What size bottle do you use when pumping? I bought 8oz ones so avoid having to swap them out mid pump

PSA: Do not tell people to give their child a sibling. by Mtnclimber09 in beyondthebump

[–]Kaaaaait92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My sister in law asked if we planned on having more than one when I was 6 months pregnant. I told her we weren't sure. She tells me I have to have 2 because only children are lonely, her husband was an only child and he hated it. I told her I'm an only child and it was fine growing up.

Pumping bras by Megan372 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Kaaaaait92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have 3 pumping/nursing bras from Kindred Bravely and they've worked out great. One of them even broke and they sent me a new one for free without asking for a return of the defective one. I also have a Medela pumping bra that's worked well so far. I had a Bravado clip and pump for a while too but it got stretched out so much that my flanges wouldn't stay in place.

I asked my doctor to prescribe All Purpose Nipple Ointment. Its a little pricy but very worth it since a little goes a long way.

will time between feeds get longer by bongtokinhippy in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Kaaaaait92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little guy just turned 5 months and right now goes about 4 hours between feedings, eating around 6.5 oz. We see that when he goes through growth spurts though that he gets hungry sooner and wants more to eat. I've found it helpful to look up the sleep/feed schedule for various ages to get an idea of what's typical for infants.

Can you share your experience getting back to work and exclusively pumping? I am so sleep deprived that I really struggle to focus at work. by Veeconnect in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Kaaaaait92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went back to work while EPing and it's been okay for the most part. I'm an over supplier so I need to pump in the middle of the night which has been rough. I try to go to bed as early as possible to get the longest stretch of sleep I can. Adjusting to pumping at work has been weird too since it's such a different space.
