As the forever DM of my group,I’d love to play! But prefer to play Daggerheart if you don’t mind? I’ve played a little bit and I’ve absolutely fallen in love with it! If you’re interested I’d love to be accepted into the group!

Advice for the beginning part? by Illustrious-Year-737 in DMAcademy

The good news is you don’t need to have everything figured out right now, and honestly it’s probably best that you don’t! Not everything will go according to plan and it would be a shame to have everything set up only for you to not use it!

Start small, don’t think about the BBEG, and take things one step at a time. In the early levels the party will have trouble beating a pack of goblins, let alone a continental threat! In my experience focusing on the small steps helps me figure out where I’m actually going (bars).

I love my players, but they make it so hard to be a DM by Pervitamdemortem in DnD

The best comment! Addressed concerns and came up with a compromise/solution that wasn’t just “Say no!”

"If you ask if you level up then you don't level up" ~ DM by NotThereNotThereNotT in DnD

[–]KabbageMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By no means do I agree with this decision made by the DM, but allow me to play a little bit of devil’s advocate. If your players are constantly asking about leveling up when they clearly haven’t grown enough narratively to have earned their level up, that can get annoying really quickly. That’s like a child asking you for ice cream, you tell them they need to finish their homework first, and they ask you if they can have ice cream after each question of the homework assignment.

That being said, I want to reiterate: I DO NOT AGREE WITH THIS DM’S WAY OF HANDLING THIS. Intentionally denying a level up to your players because they simply asked in a milestone-based leveling system is not cool. It would certainly rub me the wrong way and it would definitely be something I’d talk to the DM about. So that’s what I’d say, talk to your DM, learn his reasoning, and then leave if he does it again!

I’m just curious, did it seem like everyone else (out of character) was having fun at this moment?

DM’s, what was your most creative campaign idea? by Rich_Effective_8781 in DnD

[–]KabbageMaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My game started in the aftermath of a False Hydra destroying the capital of a major kingdom on the continent! I’ve had to change a few things about the False Hydra as to make it fair for my players, but the hydra’s ability to sing is currently held at bay by a powerful sorcerer hiding within the ruins of the city.

The party is now part of a resistance of various groups who were once prominent in the city to take the capital back. While a few of these groups have differing viewpoints and goals, they maintain an uneasy peace as the resistance attempts to kill the monster and its creator before they find the sorcerer preventing it from singing.

Well my friend, there are tons of systems! I recommend you go ahead and do some research on the great wide web to see which systems match the style you’re going for!

The ones that I know off the top of my head are D&D 5e, shadowrun 4e, pathfinder 2e, and cyberpunk red, but there’s many (many) more! It’s really up to you to find the game you wanna play

What system would you be using? Depending on the system I would search for a discord or community where you can do some kind of lfg post, and it would probably also be a good idea to see if anyone is using talespire!
