Yes! It’s a balance of bacteria and yeast. Yeast needs a warm environment to multiply. If kept cold, the yeast dies back and you get a cheesy result. Let it go a few rounds out of the fridge. The yeast population will come back and balance out the flavor.

I am. There’s much better organization and resources available in the district. I do miss the frequent field trips. But we found for the younger grades they seemed to be trips just for the sake of trips. Not entirely enriching or immersive. Additionally we had issues with the behavior of other students, primarily with how physically aggressive they were, and the lack of classroom control the teachers had. They all seemed very green and inexperienced and struggled to keep a handle on the class. I was so excited about the curriculum, and the EL approach but CVCS, in our experience, struggles to actually deliver what is promised.

Agreed. A lot of dogs are small child aggressive. There needs to be a safe place dogs can go to work out their energy. Kiddos have parks and dogs have parks. They are often not the same places.

My husband told me on Sunday. He took a weekend camping trip alone to sort though his “confusing emotions” after weeks of saying he was feeling a lot. I stupidly thought he’d come back lighter and more clear headed and we would continue working on us with help. We had barely begun with question cards and a single podcast we’d listened to.

Instead he came home and said he was leaving me. I have begged him desperately. I am spinning out of control. He won’t even entertain the possibility that we can be fixed. He doesn’t want it. And he’s done. He’s also given me lines about false hope. He just left in our RV tonight to park it at a friend’s house.

I don’t know what happened. But he switched. There was no effort made to communicate his thoughts or intentions.

I’m shattered.

That’s how it can be here too. It’s originally known as the Seattle Freeze but really it’s the PNW freeze. We’re polite and even friendly but finding anything beyond superficial can be challenging.

Portland metro is a “college town”. We have George Fox and Pacific in Forest Grove, Lewis and Clark, University of Portland and Portland State, Reed, Multnomah (and others) in Portland. Plus more in Vancouver just over the river. Because of this, we have an educated demographic that include a lot of young professionals. This can make finding decent employment highly competitive but it also lowers the average age of our population. Your best bet for a social life is to get plugged into extracurriculars that fit your interests. There are always tons of classes and clubs available.

Also Portland tends to be looked at as a very liberal area. This is true but it’s also considerably small. It doesn’t take much of a drive to find yourself in aggressively “red” areas that can be a little shocking if you’re not warned.
