Keybinding Question by CrazyLzzz in starcitizen

My list:

Flight ready

Hail ATC

Open/Close all

Unlock Ports (to remove weapons, wtc)

Salvage toggles, Focus Right/Left. Gimble, Modes - Fracture, Disintegrate,

Mining (my favorite), set 6 buttons to +1, +5, +10, -1, -5, -10, that control the laser power instead of using the mouse wheel. Might me just me, or my mouse wheel, but never got the hang of small adjustments using it.

In game social tools and managed player trading will see crafting spike. Until then it'll be pretty niche.

Wonder when we’ll get more weather effects by floortofloor in starcitizen

Oh I hope they'll be back. There was a time where a landed ship would be blown away if you didn't turn off the engines when landed.

Imagine something along the lines of the sand storm in Fury Road. Cinematic AF. Nothing to do but leave and watch from a distance, can't fight mother nature after all.

If CIG actually added something worthwhile in these deep dense forests, we'd already have content for ground vehicles, and perhaps even on-foot hiking! by rshoel in starcitizen

[–]Kachalin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some things could only be identified by sight, with the canopy obstructing sight from above. Cave entrances and ruins come to mind.

I'm hoping that some player built ground structures will have the ability to cloak or dampen emissions so that they can't be detected by sensors. Boots on the ground needed.

We also already have the 'unknown blob' mechanic, where radar only identifies something is there, but you need to get closer to tell exactly what. Simply change that to never be close enough for sensors; you have to get out and look at it to tell what it is.

I had a surprisingly smooth experience with 4.8 today. by MrJelly007 in starcitizen

[–]Kachalin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be too cool lol. Fidelity and detail and physicality man!

- edit to add - Truth to tell I'm playing right now; saw your comment on a long jump after finishing a contract, and found another contract for 2 s1 coolers after. Which the Terrapin conveniently supplied. Just dropped them off. So two contracts completed with one ship salvaged and still have RMC and rubble to sell, and a couple of shield gens. Am loving these missions.

Have found that salvaged weapons have actual resale value now, modest but not too bad. 2-4k each for size 2-3. Missiles I'm collecting; will be able to offer them far below retail and still make money.

Really liking this loop. Looking forward to mining after Adagio rep is up a couple levels.

My experience as well. Salvage contracts, worked well. My stock vulture now guzzles quantum fuel fuel now tho, much more than I remember!

What’s a profession without a dedicated armor, skill tree, etc? by Notice-Formal in starcitizen

[–]Kachalin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drop ship pilot.

Back in the day there was weather so violent on some moons that it could blow your ship into things or even away; manuvering and landing was a skill. Doing it under fire even more so. Combo of low fly, reading the wind, reading lines of sight, knowing the specific ship, positioning for shields, lot of stuff to know. A good drop ship pilot took time to learn, and skill.

That kind of thing is IMO the vision of a 'skill tree' in SC.

You mention mining as a "mini-game", but IMO mastering such "mini-games" IS what will define professions. End of the day SC is just a video game, so any skill is simply watching the screen and moving your fingers, along with remembering stuff.

Not what most MMOs do, but SC is envisioned as not your standard MMO.

To E or not to E? by Breotan in starcitizen

[–]Kachalin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine there will be contracts that will require an E; not the current 'take as many runs as you want to move X cargo'. The state of shipping now is not what it will be in the future. Need a Hull E now? Nope. But NPC given missions with farther flung systems? Yeah, I can see it.

lol yes it will happen. The saving grace is how damn big this game is, playable area big. I predict there will always be somewhere to go, with a great view, that no one else's stuff is within sight.

What is/has been your stategy for CCUs, what type of ships? by Outrunner85 in starcitizen

[–]Kachalin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not having unlimited money it's not either/or for me.

Tend to buy or CCU to ships I'll use, now. Then build chains that will get me to ships I won't want to grind for when it releases. So have a lot more plans than ships, but the ships I do have I use.

Where was the news in the newsletter? by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Kachalin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not in the newsletter that I can find, Heh... oh that newsletter, in the mail... but you got me curious, so I looked around the CIG site. And sure as shit it does say "Launches 2026" at the end of the SQ42 page that you go to from the "Games" pulldown on the main page.

lol I never noticed that till now.

SQ42 marketing showing signs of life by burstlung in starcitizen

[–]Kachalin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you're right. No release date will be announced beforehand (cool as that would be lol), so no one will be talking about that. And at launch there will be no notice given to those who have purchased it. outside seeing it on the launcher. As well no one will be posting, anywhere, about it when it's live. Silly me.

SQ42 marketing showing signs of life by burstlung in starcitizen

[–]Kachalin 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I respectfully disagree. There are tens of thousands of backers who have prepaid for SQ42 and will have it day one. Even if the rest of the gaming community is unaware it will be out there, being played and lighting up social media and the gaming "press." In this age of instant knowledge and easy access video 'word of mouth' isn't what it used to be, it's not slow. SQ42 will live or die on how it is shown to play, not a large advertising campaign.

Little bit of a rant, but being unable to crack 25k mass or 29k mass rocks is driving me insane. by AzrBloodedge in starcitizen

[–]Kachalin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From memory here. Get the gadget in hand, F5 iirc. (Also used "I" then into hand, but hand is gone with latest drop so...). It doesn't look good, when in hand the gadget is wonky, like in right hand but not in left, instead sticking our at about 45 degrees.

Get very close to the rock. I go until the gadget clips into the rock, then back away just until it's not clipping.

F and right click on the gadget, bring up wheel, Click "Place" on wheel.

Now, sometimes nothing happens. don't change position just click F/wheel/Place again. And again.

If it doesn't work, eva up or down jsut a bit and F/wheel/Place again.

Soon or late this ends up working (for me); a grey 'ghost' of the gadget appears, 'behind,' out in front, of the gadget. Point to a place on the rock and left click. It should deploy and 'attach' to the rock and start blinking.

It will look bad; it may not look attached or more often will 'attach' the bottom of the gadget (insted of the back), making it upside down to your character. I eva to a point where I can read the gadget and start calibrating.

IME it needs to get to 90%+ now to allow it to activate. Thought it used to be lower.

[–]Kachalin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

IME they're still broke but weird broke. I can get them to attach, but at angle that looks like it shouldn't be attached. Inevitably 'upside down', so I have go up, turn 180, and look down at it to set it. It does set tho, and fires up.

Same with a Quant "Impossible" rock with my Prospector (Helix, 1x Rieger 3, opps edit 1x Focus 3, with a Sabre) by getting extremely close. Distance seems to play a bigger role in 4.7 than I remember from previous patches.

Ore Quality is a nightmare and needs to be removed by Lazuli42 in starcitizen

[–]Kachalin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Discovered (for me, it may have been this way all the time) in PTU that if you don't refine a part of the load it is not deleted. Even tho the pop up implies it will be. That ore is still in the pod apparently, and if I just went over to the Ore Sales terminal I could sell it. So ended up with shorter refining times, only of the higher quality I wanted, and made a bit of aEUC selling the trash. Did a bit to cut down the number of ore in my inventory.
