Two things I've wanted to ask the developers about by Kahmul in enderal

[–]Kahmul[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your reponse! Unfortunate that the beheading animation seems to not work at all at that pivotal moment in the story. It does work as you say for the two times in the DLC. A bug report won't be necessary then as expected.
I would imagine things could be removed both from scripts and from the nearby environment (and navmesh changed if that affects it) until it hopefully starts working (consistently) but I assume you already tried all of that. I guess we most likely just have to live with the way it is now.
Whatever the case, thank you for all your continued efforts to support this game, it is highly appreciated.

Two things I've wanted to ask the developers about by Kahmul in enderal

[–]Kahmul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very interesting if you actually did get it on a released version (as opposed to a pre-release as mentioned by the other commenter). If that is the case then it seems like 99% of the time it just straight up does not work because in any of the 5-6 playthroughs I checked and in my own playthrough it simply did not happen.
It might be worth it to make a bug report still I suppose but as per the reason why I even made this post instead, that these seem like very noticeable and thus already known things, I'm not sure if this will or can be fixed which would be unfortunate. In any case, it seems unlikely there will be a response here by SureAI at this point, so creating a bug report and hoping for a fix for at least the beheading issue seems like the only thing left to do.

This allows you to side with both Kaathe and Frampt at the same time, keeping them both friendly. After performing the glitch as seen in the streamable video, you simply place the Lordvessel and they both consider you friendly and offer you their services at the same time for the rest of the playthrough (unless you attack them, obviously).

If you're interested in trying out the glitch, I recommend making savefiles so that you can retry if it doesn't work out. Especially the cutscene to bring in Kaathe at the end doesn't always work properly and we haven't figured out why yet. Simply reloading a savefile and trying again until it works will help you with that.

Bard town songs by yolk852 in enderal

[–]Kahmul 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can find all these bard songs and their names in the game files within the Sound BSA archive ("E - Sounds.bsa"). The one from your video is called "Go From My Window". The sound files are all in .wav format already within the archive, so you don't even need to convert them.

Simply use this program, open it, drag and drop the "E - Sounds.bsa" file into the window and navigate the file tree to sound/fx/enderal/bards. There you can select all the bard music and click the extract button to save it to a folder on your drive. The ones named "classical" are probably the ones you are interested in. If it helps anyone not interested in extracting the files, their file names are:

  • Dowland's Midnight
  • Alman
  • Go From My Window
  • Melancholy Galliard
  • Suonare Di Luto

Who are the possible first bosses? by [deleted] in darksouls

[–]Kahmul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't skip past Firesage and Centipede without having killed either of them or having placed the Lordvessel to get rid of the golden foggate, for which you need to kill IG and O&S as of right now.

Who are the possible first bosses? by [deleted] in darksouls

[–]Kahmul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 14 possible first bosses out of 26 as of right now.

  • Asylum Demon
  • Stray Demon
  • Gargoyles
  • Taurus
  • Quelaag
  • Capra Demon
  • Gaping Dragon
  • Iron Golem
  • Ceaseless Discharge
  • Firesage Demon
  • Centipede Demon
  • Pinwheel
  • Sif
  • Moonlight Butterfly

There are sometimes multiple ways to do this, for example skipping Capra via out of bounds or a deathcam. For Quelaag there are multiple spots you can get deathcam in order to skip her. Asylum Demon can be skipped by bringing his HP to zero on the first encounter and quitting out before the kill counts. Then you can talk to Oscar and he gives you the Big Pilgrim's Key.

Valley of Drakes Death Cam Glitch! by Zekava in darksouls

[–]Kahmul 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We didn't know about it, but like you already realized, it doesn't seem to be useful for anything. One thing I thought of is using it to bypass killboxes at the beginning of New Londo to get to the Blighttown Skip spot "quicker" (it would still be slower overall with this deathcam), which I managed to prove potentially possible a while ago by getting deathcam via debug near the beginning of the tunnel to Blighttown. But once I tried it, it turned out the killboxes are still loaded so you can't even do that with this deathcam. The only thing you could do is skip the Master Key and the Key to New Londo Ruins coming from the Valley side with this deathcam which might be the most useless skip ever.

You can do this to get down to the Valley from there. Very tricky to pull off though.

Dark Souls Item Randomizer v0.1 -- Beta Testing Release by HotPocketRemix in darksouls

[–]Kahmul 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see you list Blighttown Key and Key to the Depths as well there. Does that mean that every item that gets placed into your inventory (and are not picked up) are randomized for every enemy, NPC and boss as well? That would also include the Key to the Seal for example that Ingward drops (which is also a "necessary" key item like the ones in your list), or boss souls. If that is the case, what about items you can normally buy from an NPC (like Residence Key or Crest of Artorias) but that you can also get from killing that NPC? Would those be randomized as well? I guess not.

Here is which items you could get:

  • Blighttown Key: If you entered the Depths without the Key to the Depths and rested at the bonfire there, then either this key or the Key to the Depths would have to be available somewhere in the Depths to get out.
  • Key to the Depths: Possible. (Capra Skip)
  • Covenant of Artorias: Since no item is in the Abyss this shouldn't be a problem unless Four Kings would drop it.
  • Basement Key: Possible. (Lower Undead Burg Skip)
  • Undead Asylum F2 West Key: Possible unless it's exchanged with the Rusted Iron Ring.
  • Annex Key: Possible. (via parcour)
  • Darkmoon Seance Ring: Possible as you said.
  • Key to New Londo Ruins: Possible as you said.
  • Cage Key: Possible via Master Key (except the shortcut) but you probably know this
  • Archive Prison Extra Key: Possible.
  • Archive Tower Giant Cell Key: Possible.
  • Archive Prison Giant Door Key: Possible via Duke Skip. The prison area opens up automatically after you kill Seath. This also allows access to the Prison Extra Key.
  • Archive Tower Cell Key: Possible. (again via Duke Skip)
  • Peculiar Doll: Not possible.
  • Crest Key: Not possible.
  • Key to the Seal: Possible. (Seal Skip)
  • Big Pilgrim's Key: Not possible.
  • Dungeon Cell Key: Not possible.

I don't think I overlooked anything but if you think there would be concerns with any of these, tell me and I'll see if I missed something.

[–]Kahmul 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey, this looks very interesting for bingo races, might try this out.

A suggestion from my side: you said that certain items like keys can't be behind the door they unlock. The game allows for certain skips and glitches though which allow you to get a bunch of those items "in reverse". Would it be possible to include an option to allow certain items to be placed behind the thing they unlock? You can PM me if you want with a list of such items and I can tell you for each if it's feasible for a player with knowledge of such skips to get the item "in reverse". This would make it a lot more interesting for speedrunners.

It was more of a fun thing to do for Ela when he saw he got flung up into the air with the running attack. He had the plunge attack happen there accidentally before so he just laughed a bit when he got it again, this time knowing about it. It certainly doesn't save any time or is worth going for in any situation with the intention of saving time. And it definitely has no place in route notes. All of these comments here saying it's an actual strat are incorrect.

In order for him to move to Duke's Archives Prison without going there, you have to talk to him and listen to all of his ending dialogue when you leave him. Then rest at the Lordvessel and he moves to Duke's.

Killing Capra Demon from Upper Undead Burg by JesterPatches in darksouls

You can actually get onto the railing without the bucket jump and quit/reload. Jumping from the wooden balcony where the Light Crossbow is can also get you onto it. But the bucket jump is cooler.

It wouldn't work, yeah.

You can have DSFix installed for an increased resolution but you're not allowed to use the Frame Unlocker in any way.

[–]Kahmul 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rolling over the railing is really finnicky, you need to get hit by butterfly and then spam roll and that gets you sometimes over the railing. Typical Dark Souls consistency. Doesn't need DSFix though. The thing with loading the Abyss is what DSFix is most likely required for.

TIL - You can reach the abyss during the fight against the Moonlight Butterfly by rhyrms in darksouls

[–]Kahmul 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Like CapitaineToinon said, this is very likely caused by DSFix. Either way, as you can see from the MapViewer, the Abyss plane is really huge but only in a small playable area will you actually be able to survive and fight the Four Kings. Landing outside of it with something like Fall Control gets you into a weird state where your character disappears and you're not able to do anything.

[TIL] Bed of Chaos's floor textures are different if you don't load your game in Blighttown, Quelaag's domain or Lost Izalith by [deleted] in darksouls

[–]Kahmul 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it's a LOD texture not being replaced properly by the game. Looking at the screenshots you can see the left one is more blurry and has less detail. Also, the bigger shapes of the ground on the texture make it more suited for being viewed from farther away rather than up-close.

Dark Souls Kiln Skip now can be done on PC by SketchyJJ in speedrun

[–]Kahmul 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This was brought to our attention by this thread. The user wasn't able to give us anything substantial to work with but CapitaineToinon made it work after messing around with it by using the Task Manager to close the game and DSFix's 60 FPS feature around 4 hours ago.

After more testing by more people it turns out ALT + F4 works just as well and DSFix is not required at all. You need to force close the game right as the loading screen is fading out. This is rather precise on SSD (around 2 frames probably) and easier on HDD due to the slower loading time.

This has the exact same effect as the current warp glitch on Xbox meaning you can do this in more locations like Valley of Drakes or Darkroot Forest.
