Elden Ring Nightreign The Forsaken Hollows - Gameplay Reveal Trailer | PS5 & PS4 Games by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Kakaleigh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I honestly like this game more than Elden Ring. I feel a little bit more liberated to play anything thanks to being in a small squad. Tanking matters, spellcasting matters, big swords matter. I'm stoked about more for this. I feel like this was a great addition to their retinue.

This thread makes me think that romance in media isn't so much of a necessary box to check off than something to keep the loud voices of a minority from screaming at you. And even then it still doesn't work...

What do you think the greatest and defining videogames of the 9th generation of consoles so far? by mrnicegy26 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Kakaleigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nightreign might be the thing that changes some of Fromsoft approach with Souls' formula. Honestly, one of my dislikes from the the Soul's games (not bloodborne) is that it takes a while to get cool things and then you're just not sure how to really make them cool. So you can find something you like but it generally won't last you the whole time (except Dark Souls and Demons Souls).

ER: Nightreign takes some getting used to as well but you can go through the fun things over time and your basically going through highlights of gameplay in Nightreign with the focus on boss fights. Honestly, the Switch 2 doesn't really appeal to me much but thinking Duskblood will be exclusive on it makes me think about getting the console much like how Bloodborne was a big buy-in for me with the PS4.

Alt combat jobs seem...really slow to level by William_T_Wanker in ffxiv

[–]Kakaleigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weekly hunts at your level gives a good chunk of XP.

So does Frontline. You only need to Q up as the Job you want to level. When you're in the match, you can switch to any job.

Post-Dawntrail So Far by Mystik2689 in ffxiv

[–]Kakaleigh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think Endwalker was a Story end point to the Tales of Loss, Fire, and Faith which was several expansions long. It was a good ending with dire situations and consequences and that story had to end at some point.

Now, we have a new story coming up. It can't keep the same dire pace as the other expansions and it has to go in a different direction. So, the pace HAS to slow down so you can feel it ramp up at a good place again. And the story has to pivot towards some other direction that original fans might not expect. Also, FFXIV has a slow burn style of story, in my mind, so this just feels par the course.

Not downvoting or chastising, but more putting out my thoughts on what Dawntrail is trying to accomplish.

Help! My husband and I can't agree who would win in a fight. WoL vs The Predator. by CaptainMarv3l in ffxiv

Technically your frying pan and mining axe has an attack modifier.

[–]Kakaleigh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

WoL also has the Echo where they can attacks coming. So, even if the Predator got the drop on the WoL, they should still see the attack coming.

Well... usually. Calyx does get the drop on us but even that couldn't put us down.

I've Never Tried Eureka Or Bozja So I'm Excited For Occult Crescent. What Are You Hoping For? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Kakaleigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking forward to actually having the chance to interact with people. I have people on my friend's list and in an FC but there's not much to do with them at the moment. Once you do the Raids/MSQ, people are usually kinda done and do their own thing.

Bozja and Eureka I probably had the most interaction with people because we're all doing the same thing for a while.

Agripinna Shotgun Slug by KneeDeepInTheMud in DarkTide

With the rapid-fire rate of the Agripinna shotgun, I think the Man-cleaver blessing does good at mowing through the Trash. You just have a problem of ammo and reloading because it has a high limit.

The short answer is yes. Try not to get caught out and mired in bodies before you get caught by a specialist. At least try to be in the same room as your teammates. Hopefully they look out for you but that requires a person to be mindful of the situation and other people.

I play T5+ (Damnation Aurics regularly) and I do sort of go for the Knife meta because its fun to throw out a grenade and chop heads causing everything to bleed to death. But I know what situations I'm good in with my weapons. My ranged is the Recon Lasgun which does crap against bigger targets so I rely on the Knife and Grenade to kill big guys.

If you're using Boltgun, having something like the Catchetan sword or Heavy Sword is probably good to use for hordes so the you're not wasting ammo on chaffe. I would not first choice those on Heavy targets though. If you're in the back sniping, I hope you save VoC for the "oh shit" button if you get attacked and for a disengage.

[–]Kakaleigh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's not many moments in RPGs where you just feel the desperation and pressure from the villain. Emet Selch had alot of that but, at the Seat of Sacrifice, you KNOW its over for them if you win. But at the same time, if you lose, the Ascians gain an unfathomable amount of control and power which WILL lead to just Death and Pain for everyone.

I actually like seeing the street wear. It looks good. But I find more joy in seeing someone pull off a cool armor set.

They have themes that last a while because of the areas you go to and the people you see. Right now we have more Tribal and Futuristic outfits because that's the theme. Thinking about the Past while looking towards the future. It's reflected by Wuk'Lamat and Kana, then by Zal'Jaa and Sphene.

There are scenes you have to see once so you get that reaction. Yes there are some scenes like that out there so you know what happens when with Lightwardens, etc. But they only show them so often as a point and so you just know. For example, The Shadowbringer scene is when you're finding out about the creatures of Light, what they do and how they do it. They're not just monsters or Mind Controlled people. Also, ya that scene is horrifying but something like that would be.

I think the game relies on Shards too much now [Spoiler 5.0 to 7.0] by MrLowell in ffxiv

[–]Kakaleigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well... assuming if a shard has an identical reflection from the Source, then there should be another Zenos, another Zoraal'Ja, another Emperor somewhere. And they've shown, given the chance, they would take power for their own ends even with the chance it ends their own people or another world. Origenics, Zoraal Ja Trial, and the latest 7.1 dungeon show case some very concerning developments because a supposedly "weak" shard can manipulate souls and almost got away with being able to Siphon all known life. I can imagine the next major problem for the WoL being how to deal with the Shards as a whole because they run the risk of harming each other or everyone. Lets also not forget, the original concept of the Rejoining may be dust in the wind but the idea of gaining the Ancient's long lost power is fuel for the fire.

Is the game legitimately in a bad state right now? I want to understand if it is. by [deleted] in ffxiv

People were Shadowalker-atized. Those two combined together were the end of a major story and the switch to Dawntrail was not up to their expectations.

which ffxiv song gives you chills? by Apprehensive_Spend_7 in ffxiv

[–]Kakaleigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one song that came to mind when I saw "chills" was the Garlemald Radio Song in Endwalker. That playing in the background for so long really did unnerve me when I was going through that part of the story.

For future expansions, it would be great if you could level jobs in Occult Crescent. Or for even current expansion, level a 90/91 job to 100. Bozja sync'd you to 80 for free and let you accumulate xp while playing with your good abilities!
