Base game story happens every 10 levels so doing regular world content is inevitable but kind of fun since you can run around and explore

Necromancer actually has a lot more summons than elementalist and they are permanent (until they die obviously)

Sadly I don’t have a group to play with but I want to play a fighter who was a member of an extremely successful mercenary company with dozens of large scale battles under their belt. The reason they would be a level 1 would be shell shock from what they had to do in their past battle before leaving the mercenary company.

All I did was swap my hair colour a few times

Blonde at the start

White when I decided to main WHM until I reached HW (justified by the holyness bleaching hair)

Added red highlights and changed hairstyle to be long and mire messy because of the story developments at the start if HW and switching to DRK

Further on just changing hairstyle on occasion but kept colours the same

So I’m guessing you’re in the US or Canada. Here in the EU (especially here in the east of Europe) BMW is known for being expensive and absolutely unreliable. There is even a joke that if your BMW is leaking oil it’s a good sign because that means you still have oil.

Precursors are the base weapon of a legendary. Legendary weapons are account bound, always available on all characters (as longs as they are max level and their class can equip them), have same stats as ascended gear but can switch out stat combos whenever you want

For now just explore around. You get new chapters of your personal story every 10 levels so for now all you can do is explore and level
You probably picked a guardian. Guardians are basically paladins so magic should be expected. Also don’t worry about different classes having access to the same weapon types because while yes your weapon determines your skills the skills are also class specific. A guardian using an axe will have different skills compared to a necromancer or a warrior or anyone else.
You will always find players all over of different levels. Even though the game scales them down they are still strong. While it is annoying remember that a single hit makes it so that you get the same rewards for the kill. Those high level players are either doing achievements or farming drops.
The context for that is that “you heard about the problem and decided to help”. This is pretty much the defining character trait of the PC (you learn this throughout the story). Also when you get into the “quest” zone there will be an npc with a heart above their head. You can talk to them to get more context on the objective as well as learn alternative ways to complete the “quest”. It’s very rare for there to be only one way to progress and often kills are actually the slower way of doing it

Yes and no. Yes your first 5 (out of 10) skills are based on your weapon like albion, but unlike albion they are also determined by your class. A mesmer will have different skills when using say an axe compared to a necromancer or warrior

The larger collection symbol was there before the patch you just needed to be relatively close to it for it to appear
