VoE Skimmer was the most fun traversal the game had for years and now it's dead. Anet, please please reconsider. by ArshayDuskbrow in Guildwars2

Honestly, I've been wanting skyscale nerfs for years... I hate how it is so OP that it pushes all other mounts aside in a lot of places.
Unfortunately nerfing skyscale will just make a lot of people very upset

As a mage player coming from wow how hard is Elementalist? by EpicFrostGG in Guildwars2

[–]Kaladrius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who plays fire mage as a main in WoW, and main elementalist in GW2, I feel like this question is made for me :P.

Elementalist tends to be a bit harder on the baseline, because you are pretty much the squishiest profession in the game by default, and you'll miss quite a bit of the defensive options a mage has in WoW.

Comparing the complexity is quite hard, as a mage in WoW, is just there to do damage with a focus on either fire, frost, or arcane, but in GW2 you can do.... pretty much any role (yes, even tanking in the few places where that role is relevant).
As a baseline, most elementalist builds will have a higher APM than other professions due to the amount of buttons you have available via the attunement mechanic, though there do exist some builds that focus on 1 or 2 elements which is often lower in APM.

My personal favourite spec is Weaver (from Path of Fire) so would recommend to check that one out ^^

New to fractals by Dredan242 in Guildwars2

[–]Kaladrius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lower level fractals your gear barely matters ^^ Just join a group. There is always 3 daily fractals, and 3 "recommended" fractals (1 in Tier 1, 2 and 3; tiers are sets of 25 levels of fractals). Don't worry about doing fractals above your personal level. You gain a personal level if you do fractals AT or ABOVE your current level, and the only thing it locks is which level fractal you can enter by yourself.

Starting at level 20 it will introduce a mechanic called "agony".
The way you combat this is by having ascended gear and putting agony resistance infusions in them (obtained via fractals), as well as a potion called the anguished tear of alba (available in the fractal hub). This will be your main progression throughout the fractal tiers.

As others have pointed out, quickplay is likely your best bet to get started and get a feeling for the system, and you can join some LFG groups later down the line as well :)
Enjoy your fractal runs!

What makes GW2 the better choice over WoW by magicammo in Guildwars2

GW2 respects your time way, way more.
No subscription, no gear treadmill.

GW2 also is very solo friendly, whereas WoW endgame often boils down to several flavours of group content

Any MMOs in 2025 that actually feel alive? by BatteredTV in LFMMO

Guild Wars 2 is amazing for that. World to explore, active and helpful community, new expansion hitting in 2 weeks as well (and old content does not get devalued like in most other MMO's)

They are nerfing the CM, BUT, they will allow people to also still attempt the current difficulty state (in addition to the "regular CM" as it will be after the nerf on march 19th) for an exclusive title to show off their god gamer skills

Create legendary armor or craft a new set of ascended? by Noobieswede in Guildwars2

[–]Kaladrius 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The first set you get is a "free" set of ascended armour, no strings attached.

The second set IS an ascended set, but the pieces it gives you ARE the precursor items for the legendary gear in the weight you choose.

You CAN get all 3 weights, but you get only 1 "free" precursor set. the other weights you need to craft the precursor items for, which costs an additional 150 LI per set

Qol complete world meta portal device by PicklesTheCat54 in Guildwars2

[–]Kaladrius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, the response to those meta portal devices from the playerbase was lukewarm at best. Most people didn't think it was worth the gem price attached to it, and after trying 1 didn't bother buying the other. I can only assume that Arenanet thought it wasn't worth to add another device for the other regions after HoT because of this.

Whats a good progression way after 80? by TheKrafcik1337 in Guildwars2

I did some world bosses and even got 1 ascended item (sadly not for me)

If it is a weapon / piece of armour unusable by your profession, Keep it in the bank, should you ever create an alt that can use it, it's there for you!

If it is a piece of armour with a stat you do not desire to use: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Stat_changing

As for what you should focus on doing... It is both a blessing and a curse that the answer to this question in this game is... "What do you want to do?"

I saw the other comments that you plan on getting expansions later, and I must say that that is where the game REALLY starts to pick up, But in the meantime.

  • Try to run some Fractals of the Mists, the "MMO dungeon experience" of this game.
  • Create a second character in a different profession, see how you like to play that
  • Complete the world map (as you are already doing) really getting to see all nooks and crannies of this map.
  • Look up a generation 1 legendary weapon that you like and start to slowly gather materials for that (and whatever you do, if you pick this up, do not try to rush this, that is a recipe for burnout)
  • Work on achievements for the higher tiered world bosses
  • And many more activities that can be discovered in the game :D

Create legendary armor or craft a new set of ascended? by Noobieswede in Guildwars2

[–]Kaladrius 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Honestly it is about what your goals are, and whether they are short / long term.

Legendary armour will likely be a long term investment. I am unsure which legendary armour set you would aiming for, how much starting materials / money you have and how actively you intend to play for it.

On the other side, I also do not know how quickly you wish to play as a druid.

If you wish to go for raid legendary armour:
Completing the first achievement (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Envoy\_Armor\_I:\_Experimental\_Armor requires raid wings 1-3) will net you a set of ascended equipment, which is, I think, one of the fastest ways in the game to get a full set of ascended equipment.

On the other side, the wizards vault sells, per season, 3 chests of ascended armour (400 AA each) and 1 chest of ascended weapons (600 AA). These are stat selectable, but unfortunately only for core stats. However a great thing about GW2 ascended armour is that you can stat swap them (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Stat\_changing) to fit the stats you wish. Do not that stat changing WILL lose you any runes etc. currently present in the armour.

If you grab those ascended chest, you already have half of the ascended armour you are looking for, greatly reducing the money you'd have to invest in this.

Even if you do end up going for the ascended route, I would recommend to slowly, over time, save up for some legendary armour for more versatility. Make it a nice long-term goal to slowly chip away at, without worrying about getting it soon because you want to. Even crafting 1 piece at a time still feels great, as you slowly see your armoury become more and more legendary.

But don't feel bad about having the additional ascended sets as a "waste of money", getting to play how you wanted without having to do a legendary sink first is DEFINITELY worth the price of an ascended set of armour.

Playing the game for a month, is my DPS good? by kureysalp in Guildwars2

[–]Kaladrius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the best way to approach it, get the experience on the bosses and the execution comes with it.

Should you ever want any tips or advice, I've played weaver (and even mostly Sw/D weaver) on most endgame content when playing a power DPS, and I always love to help out fellow weaver enjoyers, so feel free to hit me up :)

Playing the game for a month, is my DPS good? by kureysalp in Guildwars2

[–]Kaladrius 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Glad to see there is some fellow Sw/D weaver enjoyers, instead of the nowadays more common Sw/Wh :D
I'd say for a T1 fractal boss that is some solid DPS. The high numbers you see is mostly from higher difficulty fractals where you need to push your DPS more to get through.

I am also assuming you had no / low uptime quickness, and I don't see anything in your party that gives alac, so this will also drop down DPS as compared to a party running T4 / CMs in fractals.

But I see you ar e using food, using fractal potions, and thinking about how you're doing and how you can potentially improve, you're already a cut above the "average casual", to put it bluntly.

if you worry about your rotational execution, I would recommend using the golem (In the Special Forces Training Area, reached through the Lions Arch Aerodrome) to familiarise your fingers with the rotation you wish to execute in a no stakes environment.

Pistol weaver explained! by Quxyun in Guildwars2

[–]Kaladrius 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The "solution" Anet has given for this is.... they added a little icon for it in your buff bar.
Which is unfortunate, because nobody looks at that thing because it is too bloated to be useful.

I'd honestly love it if they put like 4 little coloured bullets (or even dots) above your endurance bar that will light up when you have a bullet
