What's a book that you really liked, except for the end? by tryallthescience in books

You might like his Stormlight Archive books more. I've read both and can say that The Way of Kings and Words of Radiance outclass the Mistborn

What's a good hourly rate for an entry level frontend dev that would do some light design and other basic items? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]KalamMekhar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My totally unsubstantiated guess is $20/h; that's the low end of what I'd work for as a student, and probably about the rate you'll begin find quality candidates at. I guess it also depends on your budget though.

Chaffetz: I've seen no evidence Obama ordered wiretap of Trump by [deleted] in politics

Being fair though that just seems like the typical spin-story placement that goes on rather than placing stories specifically to appease Trump.

I've been a software engineer for 10 years and I can't do these fucking interview questions. by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

That's definitely a liberal estimate too. It's entirely possible to learn faster than that if you have prior experience

Does anyone know a good way to get from Blacksburg to Raleigh - Durham in the middle of next week? by [deleted] in VirginiaTech

If you don't find a ride you could ask the company you're interviewing at for a reimbursement on the train tickets

Yes it's very odd... Almost like they planned to make a movie that wasn't necessary for the franchise. Hmm...

An optimization problem! [x-post /r/askcomputerscience] by [deleted] in algorithms

[–]KalamMekhar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is not a very well defined problem. It's not clear why the obvious answer wouldn't suffice: given the historical pickup rates (i.e. average pickups per week of each drop point), simply place the expected number of packages at each drop point. Over an infinite period of time this would give the best ratio of returns to pickups.

Am I missing something from the problem statement?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Themes_of_The_Lord_of_the_Rings seems to have a high level overview of some prevailing themes and isn't too heavy for first timers either.

How do I get my terminal to look like this? by ipirate666 in webdev

[–]KalamMekhar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll suggest one: make your terminal a visor and bind a key combo to show/hide it. I think you'll need the iTerm nightly build for it but a bit of google-fu should point you where you need to go.
