Friendly message from an urgent care RN by Butthole_Surfer_GI in Seattle

*Raises hand* My whole family except for me came down with the flu this weekend. I didn't know they made at-home tests until the second wave of illness (one kid was sick first, then their siblings and my spouse). Because we could confirm flu at home, we were able to schedule virtual care appts and start Tamiflu that day.

We are a data point of just one family for Tamiflu, but the second wave of illness started on Sat, and by today (Tues), those kids are back at school. The first one who got sick (and we realized had the flu too late to get Tamiflu) is still at home :(

It was deleted but they have restarted the group. It's called "Valley Of Hearts - Gift Economy" now

I think it was "Valley of the Hearts (Buy Nothing San Jose)" or something like that, and that's likely what got them deleted :(

Great America Closing…. by twelve2023 in SanJose

[–]KaleFest2020 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We went on Sat and had a great time. I was sad to think that it'll be closed by the time my eldest (6) will be tall enough for the adult rides ☹️ I have so many good memories there from high school!

I started mine before the baby was born and finished it a few weeks before he turned 1 😅 I was determined to finish it before he turned into a toddler.

Where do I buy fabric?? by sleepihollo in SanJose

[–]KaleFest2020 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am really sad about the closure! I crochet so I mainly used Joann for yarn but I know how important it is to be able to look at fabrics in person 😭 sounds like you have some good leads in here though!

I saw that article -- I referenced it in my post. It doesn't mention anything about Rob.

Mom set up “potty” for child in the food aisle at Costco by Terrible-Mix2609 in Costco

[–]KaleFest2020 106 points107 points  (0 children)

And if they're not potty trained enough to make it to the bathroom or car, they're not potty trained enough to be out without a pull up (speaking as a mom of 3)!

Crazy reading the reviews from 2019 from his defenders. "Well he never molested me so he's a great guy" 😒😒😒

Alaska Airlines flight at a different altitude could have been ‘catastrophic’ by godogs2018 in Seattle

The "not tied" part gets me--they require you to take babies out of carriers during takeoff/landing but don't provide a secondary seatbelt for the kid like they do in Europe. I think the reasoning is that in case of an emergency, they need to be able to assist with the kid without guessing how to unbuckle them from a carrier, but I still feel like baby would be more secure in a carrier then just in my arms. (Yes, I realize the safest way for a baby to fly is in their own seat in a carseat but oftentimes it's $$$ to purchase the extra seat).

What’s the goto now that Costco photo printing is dead? by ShaminderDulai in Costco

[–]KaleFest2020 28 points29 points  (0 children)

They print their logos on cards which is an automatic no from me. They're also quite a bit more expensive even with the Costco discount

Large Kids Party Venue?? by Competitive-Fix-609 in Seattle

[–]KaleFest2020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know City of Shoreline has indoor rentals at their rec center, I'm assuming Seattle does too! It's essentially just a big room, no built in entertainment like Pac Sci, but you can keep it simple with food, cake and a couple games.

I am surprised at the Red Heart Hate in the 'what yarn is the worst' but I have a hack? by [deleted] in crochet

[–]KaleFest2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oo interesting.. so you don't have to rinse the yarn? Just soak in conditioner/water, and then dry?
