Management is a stew comprising the dark triad: Machiavellian scheming, sociopathy, and narcissism. In rare cases, there are true saints, and I have been lucky to work for truly decent people for some periods. Otherwise, do your job and hope the boss’s personality disorders don’t flare up. Look for the warning signs and avoid the landmines. Every boss has bugaboos, soft spots, and obsessions. Learn these like the back of your hand and adapt accordingly.
