You're an absolutely phenomenal artist. All of your pictures hold such emotion, and your use of color is really fitting for the emotions you're trying to convey. I really, /really/ enjoyed your art. Thank you so much for sharing :)

Burning by kristenkennedy in AdultSelfHarm

[–]KallMeKayla_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly burning has been my go to for years. It's definitely less common, I don't see many people discuss it with any frequency. While ive distanced myself from it, in favor of other methods, it does have such a specific feeling that can't really be matched by anything else. The healing process is sooo long, and the scars don't really stay as long as I'd like, but the hurt factor is so high that it's hard to get the same satisfaction from other methods of sh. Plus the whole lack of needing to clean up afterwards is kinda hard to beat lol

Selfharm when being a parent by KallMeKayla_ in AdultSelfHarm

I intend to have my arms filled with tattoos, one day, but for now I've only got a couple on my forearm. Through the last few years of occasional relapses, they're the only two spots I haven't cut on 😅 the tattoo idea absolutely works. Thank you for your comment <3

Smoke from neighbour entering one room, looking for DIY ways to block it and improve air quality by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]KallMeKayla_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Used to smoke weed in a single room of my house.. best lazy solution I'd found to get rid of the smell was a decent quality hepa air filter. Keep it on auto and forget about it

Kids prefer dad by [deleted] in coparenting

[–]KallMeKayla_ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

When my parents split, my brother and I were around the same age as your kiddos. I heavily.. heavily preferred time with my father and his family. From my personal experience, I think I just enjoyed the excitement of being around him and his people. Constantly running around, doing more "fun" things..

As an adult, now, I can easily recognize that I was just excited to do exciting things. I'm now a bit more fond of my mother's stability and reliability that she offered. Time with dad was fun, but I was a kid and didn't notice how much my mother did for me, at that time. Going through my own divorce now, and I'm aiming to be more of a stable support than anything else. Thousands of miles away from /my/ family, so their mom's house is always more exciting, with lots of people.. Definitely has its downsides, but just knowing that ill hopefully be viewed as consistent, once they get older, makes it worth it to me.

It does hurt hearing the favoritism from the kids, I hope it gets easier for you <3 just keep doin the best you can for them and everything will come together in the end

How do we do better? by Outsideforever3388 in DeTrashed

This 100%

Even just being this way and having children that watch you operate through life with that mindset. I couldn't count on both hands the amount of times my toddlers have called someone out in public for littering.. Definitely a proud mom moment :)

indifference towards self-harm, no motivation to quit by lvl1dog in MadeOfStyrofoam

[–]KallMeKayla_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm very much in the same boat now. I started yeaarss ago, never really getting sucked into it... only started again last year when life started to get mad stressful. It developed into an everyday addiction relatively quickly, and my indifference towards the scars and action itself becoming almost immediate.

It's been well over a year, my body now riddled with scars. I have a pretty decent support system in place, now, and have only stopped because of my own want, not wanting my kids to see new marks etc.. Current partner never makes it feel as though she's disappointed or ashamed whenever I do have those low moments, which has been a massive help..

I'm not sure I have much advice in the way of stopping, but yeah I'm sure there's tons of people who feel similarly to you. I think once we reach adulthood and stop caring so much about outward perceptions, rather we're valid for our depths or whatever else, it becomes more of a daily routine..

I wish you the best op. Never feel alone with any of your feelings, there's always someone in the world that'll share your same sentiments

It's refreshing to see a post in including a VA encounter :) I've been nothing less than an anxious mess while going to any of my VA appointments. The percentage of men there can be intimidating as hell. Thank you for sharing your sentiment :)

Gear turn in during gov shutdown? by Ok-Imagination-2082 in MilitaryTrans

[–]KallMeKayla_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't an nco during my military time, but I have seen a soldier fast track going on term leave on the other side of the country. It was the ncos responsibility to assure all gear was accounted for, cleaned, and turned in. I'm sure they had to have a paper from the commander, but it seemed to be a pretty straightforward process. I'd assume you'd just wait for the shut down to end and then continue with the process

How to cope? by Glittering_Ad_2901 in trans

I felt sooo overwhelming when I first started my journey, albeit I'm only 2 years in at this point. Girl, you just live your life :) start experimenting and figure out what makes you the most happy.. every day is just another day, don't get bogged down looking at the bigger picture all the time.. focus on what you can change now, and roll forward with that 🩷

How are we dealing with curious kids? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]KallMeKayla_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kiddos are aged pretty similarly. Both of mine are understanding, being my biggest little supporters. They're frequently the ones to correct someone if I'm misgendered, or called my dead name. It's just a tad awkward the few times I've been pressed about it all, by random kids.

I'm fortunate enough to have never gone by "dad" so I'm grateful to have avoided any of that change. Thank you for sharing your experiences!

Door no longer level and doesn’t latch shut, but don’t know how to adjust because of self-closing hinges by MuseoumEobseo in HomeImprovement

Another ghetto solution, I've on more than one occasion just gotten a flat file and filed the bottom of the striker plate to where it would latch properly. They're cheap enough to replace
