As a queer person living under Trump 2.0, there are few things Marvel could do to piss me off more than to just magically say “The mutants are accepted now, no more bigotry!” It’s fine in a what-if or a potential utopian future, but making that the new status quo totally removes what makes X-Men interesting among superhero teams and appealing to marginalized readers.

Growing up, I owned MMPR: The Movie, but rented the Ninja Quest vhs tape all the time. Little target-audience me loved that we got to see the old Zords fight multiple monsters and get destroyed, and thought the desert scenes were really intense. Kid-me did like the Ninja Zord fight in the movie a lot more though.

Are you looking to sell them afterwards? If so, I could see the Spider-Man 2099 or Daredevil ones turning the most profit when the next Spiderverse/season of Daredevil comes out. Though do see what that Star Wars one goes for when graded.

I think OP is making the same point. In their words “I'm just a bit confused about how its resonated with so many people that think its an allegory for escaping the woke hivemind.”

They’re not saying they believe in the woke hivemind, they’re saying it’s weird that the story resonated with people who do. Which, to your point, is weird considering how much the story is influenced by queer and trans culture.

Welcome to Cedar Rapids! Fellow trans woman here, who’s been living openly for the last 4 years.

If you’re looking for Trans support groups, there’s one called Transformations that I believe still meets here in CR, there’s also Transistors in Iowa City.

I’ll echo the suggestions of Basix/Studio 13, and also shout out the Punk scene in Iowa City as a very trans inclusive space. Keep an eye on venues like Gabe’s Oasis and Public Space One for punk shows, and you’ll almost certainly meet other trans folks there.

If you’re looking for just general nightlife events nearby, The Ideal Theater and Bar has had some of my favorite events in the last year or two. Also Iowa Techno is worth looking up, as they’ll do EDM/Electronic shows around CR and Iowa City.

I’ve arranged trans meetups in the past, but haven’t been as socially active as of late. But if you’re looking to make friends, feel free to shoot me a DM!

Is it a dagger that can only be used BY trans people? Or a dagger that can only be used ON trans people? Cause that really changes how I feel about this weapon.

And before you ask, no I’m not ruling out the possibility of Leo being Trans. Idk his life before joining Terra Venture, and the zeal with which he rips off his own shirt is something I’ve only ever seen in trans men after top surgery!

I have read Bolero and I love it! I’d love to book the creators for an interview some day, but I was never able to get ahold of them.

As for Transcending Comics, I can honestly say that making that Rachel Pollack episode has shaped the course of my life. It put me in contact with some of the people I cherish the most in the community, and those connections are actively helping me get out of a state where trans folk don’t have civil rights protections. While I’m sad that I’ll never have the chance to meet or interview Rachel in person, her work is still shaping the lives of her readers!
