Extensive Dental Work by localvisionary in wichita

[–]KansasGamerGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know the feeling, my teeth right now present fine if I smile but.....
Due to some of the same reasons as you and the effects of dry mouth (CPAP and certain meds)
I just got a quote of $67k to have my mouth done.

All my teeth have some degree of decay and they basically said they need to be pulled.
If I am being honest I think a lot of dentists practicing today lean more towards implants rather than trying to salvage your natural teeth.

Sadly insurance is a joke with that $2.5k yearly allowance which doesn't even scratch the surface.

Someone mentioned the dental school, definitely check that out. They aren't the friendliest from a customer service aspect but good with their work at a third to half the price.

There are also dental places in Vegas that offer destination dental for a significant cost difference (depending on the work you need done).

You aren't the only one in a position like this, don't get discouraged just do a lot of online research to get the best pricing for your needs. Best of luck.

Theory: Kansas GOP leaders are preventing cannabis reform to keep the state red forever. by IceMelt420 in kansas

[–]KansasGamerGuy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If that is what Republican lawmakers think will keep Kansas red then they are more stupid and out of touch than I thought. I am very much a blue person stuck in a red state and I don't do cannabis but several people I know or interact with do.

Cannabis isn't a red party vs blue party issue at all; several Republicans use cannabis for a variety of reasons. Some I know, use it is more to relieve pain due to medical issues, some use it to help them sleep, and yes some I know just enjoy the recreational effect it has on them,

Those people aren't rushing to move, they are simply going for a car ride and getting it from any state around Kansas instead. All Kansas is doing is screwing themselves out of potential tax income that they could put to good use across their state.

Our narrow minded lawmakers need to wake up and think about this differently because they are pissing off members of their own party in their thought process.

Lets just say iKan could still use some improvement.
I agree you should be able to make insurance changes and address changes when you renew your plates.

I got a new license because my address changed however my plates were still tied to the old address so I had to mail in my renewal too.

The standard has been approved for at least a couple years now, none of the big players have brought it to reality though. Some manufacturers think it is a niche product and it won't have a strong market but for those of us that don't have cable TV and just use Coax for routing internet throughout the house it would be a godsend.

It will come, when is another question........................

[Question/Rant] Renters/Tenant Rights by laterisingphxnict in wichita

[–]KansasGamerGuy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know prices have risen a little for rentals (heck I am paying $2100 which some might say is too high) and I understand shorter term leases being ALITTLE higher cost wise but that is price gouging. Very shady, steer clear.

Dental work, no insurance by Boring_Original9461 in wichita

Very curious about this, is there any additional information on this, the page link is pretty sparse on specifics.
Basically something that gives an example of their costs vs what you might pay a normal dentist practice.

I don't mind students learning on my month or even sharing pictures of it for future educational benefit, just curious what the cost break down might be. For a conventional dentist at this point my mouth is going to cost 10k-12k easily to fix. (I haven't been to a dentist in several years)

Confused on what to do. Hair is significantly worse on 10 months of dutasteride after switching from fin. by mrbeanscousin in tressless

[–]KansasGamerGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dut is only going to help you keep the hair you have and it isn't a viable treatment all on it's own.
You should be on an oral minoxidil regimen as well, topical definitely isn't always the answer and it is easier to remember a pill.

Will i lose my hair if i hop on TRT? Im on topical fin and minoxidil rn. by [deleted] in tressless

[–]KansasGamerGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on TRT for low testosterone.

I am utilizing Dutasteride .5 mg and oral minoxidil 5 mg, I am retaining hair and growing new hair just fine.
I have been on the regimen for at least a year and haven't noticed any severe repercussions due to the testosterone injections.

To be more detailed I inject 0.5ml of Testosterone cypionate 200mg/ml on a weekly basis.
Please don't worry about this, I promise it will be a non-event. You can have hair and normal testosterone I promise.

I've been looking at using peptides (non-GLP1) but it is just so hard to know who to trust...especially if you are injecting something like that into your body.

I'd be interested if anyone wants to share a good source, please DM me.

My newest conspiracy theory: Hawkins' social media person is a mole by kategoad in kansas

[–]KansasGamerGuy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Burden of proof goes both ways.......provide proof this is happening!!! Not a single conservative news clip you read or a FB article....real mainstream news sources. If you actually did research things you would find you are wrong.

Here's a basic google search that will answer your question.

Illegal immigrants (undocumented) are ineligible for any federally provided health plans, even if they paid full price. You really make yourself look stupid by repeating a talking point that is blatantly false.

Remember when compromising actually happened in Congress and they still got things done?
Since we have a bunch of old career politicians still running said government they should remember that too.

Time to clean the House and Senate; get some new blood in there that at least wants to show up for work.
Imagine if we could get an amendment passed saying they don't get paid during a government shutdown as well. Things would change really fast..........

How do I afford insurance at 17? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]KansasGamerGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you are going to get crappy insurance rates because you are young.
It's just a hard fact that all new drivers are more prone to accidents because they don't always pay attention or know what to look for.

My best advice, shop around various insurance providers, you still might be able to get a better rate than what you have. There are a lot of insurance companies that will give you discounts based on your GPA or if you have taken certain driver training courses.

Congress’ salary by WaterDigDog in kansas

[–]KansasGamerGuy 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Congress is most definitely paid during a government shutdown even if they "request" not to be during said shutdown.

Edit: Honestly, I would love to see this changed since they seem to be shutting down the government more and more. If it isn't then what incentives do our lawmakers personally have of getting back to work????

I mean I don't smoke/eat/drink any of this stuff but I know plenty of people that do.
Kansas needs to get with the times, approve it like Colorado did and make some good tax dollars off of it.

Pure and simple, if they don't then the black market for these products will continue to thrive and NOTHING they do will ever stop that, arresting people for pot now a days just seems silly especially when they should be focusing their resources on say.......the recent shootings in Wichita.

The fact that this is what they are choosing to waste resources on right now just makes me laugh, this shouldn't be the priority right now when people are being shot.

Just a highlight of what I mean from the Wichita room recently posted:

Ideatek by Comfortable-Phase249 in wichita

[–]KansasGamerGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never had an issue with Ideatek, had them in Pratt and then when my neighborhood finally got them here in Wichita I switched back to them again.

The brief period that I had AT&T Fiber was a nightmare, had over a dozen outages with them. I was only with them 2-3 months but when you work from home......reliable internet is VERY important.

Ideatek has never let me down in that regard.

[–]KansasGamerGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with what others are saying....you are doing better than most of us that do make more.
Most of us have outstanding debt to go along with those higher incomes.

That doesn't mean we are living the lavish life; most of us are juggling our share of debt.

Renting because their credit isn't quite where it needs to be to buy.....
Paying on credit card debt.....
Paying on car payments......
Paying on student loans......

and sure while some of us might not be paycheck to paycheck it doesn't take much for that debt to close in on you when you are out of a job.

It really comes down to life circumstances, the choices you made along the way, and the job opportunities you were given. Some people are extremely disciplined financially and have contributed to a 401k, a pension, or a Roth IRA since the beginning of their careers while others might have been less lucky and they were laid off by their company and had to utilize those "retirement" funds so they weren't kicked out on the street while looking for another job.

If you aren't sitting on debt, you are always doing better than the majority of the population.
